Who all are we planning on signing for this class I’m sorry I’m behind!!!!

Assuming my Captain Obvious Hotels.com persona, "Not shaping up to be a good class."

Still a chance at transfers which is the new wildcard. The post season portal is like a 2nd chance at recruiting for the next year. Not likely to add any Top 50 type but still a shot at quality transfer player(s). Not that we NEED a good or great class in the short term after great to good classes in 2020 (#8 PN) and 2021 (#39 PN but actually better IMHO because transfers). We look kind of set for a few years but can't afford multiple so-so classes in a row if we want to stay among the ranked teams. If Joens comes back and no one leaves we will have a pretty full roster in 2021-22. The optional Covid bonus year messes with my perception of roster turnover via class.

Just some unqualified Wednesday musing. Thunderstomring out and bored. ;)

I’ve had the idea in my head for some time that Joens might choose to play one more season just for the opportunity to play with two sisters. IF that happened, next years team could be scary good.

Kelsey is a 2023 recruit, so Ashley would have to play two extra years (COVID year plus one more) to play with her. That's only possible if Ashley has a medical hardship (or a regular redshirt, but that would be super strange).

For '22 Shantavia Dawkins signed in the early period and we had something like 50 others recruited to an extended degree. We may sign one or two more, likely one or more unknown to us at this time. What a low percentage outcome! Time, money, and disappointment of such a high degree. Tough job.

I was obviously confused! It’s what happens when you retire

Mendelson, wanting to play both volleyball and basketball, chooses a school who has allowed that in the past: Nebraska.
I understood that volleyball would be her "first love" sport in college - and her recruiting final four: Minn, Neb, Wash, and Texas - all have top level VB programs.

Let me know if there are any corrections needed. Note that I generally leave players on the potential targets list until they give a verbal commitment somewhere, even if it's clear there is no longer mutual interest with ISU.

Rankings:
ES -- ESPN 2022 Top 100 (retrieved 9/29/2021)
AS -- ASGR 2022 Top 75 (retrieved 10/15/2021)
BS -- Blue Star 2022 Rankings -- 134 players (retrieved 5/25/2021)
PN -- Prospects Nation 2022 Elite 100 Watch List -- star ratings (retrieved 5/25/2021)
PG -- Prep Girls Hoops Rankings -- 76 players (retrieved 5/25/2021)

Prep Girls Hoops ranks Iowa's top HS Girls for 2022 below. Other recruit rating sites show similar results. Iowa State did not pick up any Iowa players for 2022 so far. Some of the players below are listed in the Top 100 National lists.

#1 Hannah Stuelke, Cedar Rapids Washington-->Iowa
#2 Brooklyn Meyer, West Lyon-->SDSU
#3 Jada Gyamfi, Johnston -->Iowa
#4 Ryley Goebel, Center Point-Urbana-->UNI
#5 Ava Hawthorne, Gilbert-->Drake

One note about Brown: she was a redshirt sophomore this season, but since her redshirt year was 20-21 she only has two seasons of eligibility remaining. She does not have a bonus COVID year. That also means that, although there may be talk of her playing with her sister at ISU, their time would only overlap for one season.
