Washington State game thoughts

I figured their team wouldn’t be in awe of us after going to Arizona and winning and I was right. They came in with a good game plan, but once we adjusted, they didn’t have an answer.

I tip my cap to Wazzu. They came out and played hard. There's some nice, young talent there.
They're an athletics underdog so unless we're playing them why not root for them?

When I went to the Alamo there wasn't many of them but I didn't have any issues.

Games like this are only gonna help the team get better. They know they can start slow then clamp down and win. They’ve been scrapping all season. WSU gave all they had, the Clones just gave more. Great game on to the next one keep the train rolling

ISU cannot afford to start like we did today and get away with it, the teams we will see the rest of the way are too good to allow us to stay in the game, WSU could not put us away when they had a chance, allowed us to hang around and get back into the game at the end of the first half.
We start like that against Illinois or UCONN and they will bury us.

Wazzu was a decent team, their size bothered us more than I figured it would and they did a great job against our defense, but the one kid was on fire the first half, which kept them in the game. Refs called the game exactly like we would want it called.
Put Wazzu in the B12, they are finishing in the top of the conference around 5-7th.

I don’t know that I’d put them that high. Their NET was similar to Oklahoma’s. That seems about right.

I noticed part way into the second half that they'd moved Watson on to cover Wells. Anyone notice if that was the entire 2nd half when he was in? If so, low key huge game in shutting WSUs only offense down.

Agreed, coach got the most out of them.

Price will probably jump somewhere - pretty solid for a FR.

If that big guy worked with Coach Green he would be dangerous.

The Wazzu big, Jones, has been on my top 20 list of transfer bigs that would be nice as a Cyclone since about the first of the year.

Wsu played well, 0 seemed to hit a shot every time our crowd got into the game. I thought they had a decent fan showing but their fans seemed to be cheering at ISU fans rather than for their team.

Honestly I hate it. That could easily be us. They did nothing except field a bunch of quality football teams and support their squad. Realignment sucks and they are the ones left to deal with the consequences. Schools like WSU and ISU are what make college sports great.

I don’t know that I’d put them that high. Their NET was similar to Oklahoma’s. That seems about right.

I think they are a better team than OU, and their NET would be lower playing in the weaker P12, while OU's was helped by playing in the B12.

An element I liked about that game ... in a general sense, as it applies to this ISU team: Opponent plays well, puts up a challenge, could be on cusp of upset ... gradually, Iowa State, favored to win, closes the deal, whatever it requires.

We've been on the opposite side of that countless times, in numerous sports.

Its a decent lager w some actual flavor. Reminds me of original coors as much as anything.

I thought their guards really struggled with the physical play.

Odd game, close enough but I never felt like was state could actually win the game.

Eh, they were pretty bad but there were some bad calls both ways.

One of the turnovers we created they showed a replay of we clearly fouled on.

Oh, agreed. By no means am i saying there weren't some baffling calls that went against us.
