A year ago, I was convinced that if I got COVID, it was sure to kill me. Most of the year, I lived with a mindset between fear and “just get it and get it over with”. When I finally caught it, from my 70 year old parents, I was relieved to know how my body would respond, I survived.
I genuinely don’t want people to get sick or worse. I feel for those who have gone through the feeling of COVID without actually getting it. I appreciate those who don’t want to get the vaccine. I see it kinda like insurance, it’s all good until the stuff hits the fan.
I get #2 a week from today. I had a meal on a patio yesterday and could smell the dishes being served. It was the first time in 5 months that I could smell food, burning wood, etc. I believe the shots are helping restore that.

GF & I were discussing how strange it will be to go out in public places without a mask, once this is all in the rear view mirror.
Update, got my 2nd dose Friday at noon. Woke up Saturday morning completely exhausted and fatigued. Spent most of the day in bed, but felt better Sunday. Very sore arm is the last thing to go, but feeling near 100% now.
Hearing people get their sense of smell back after getting the vaccine has been a nice surprise.

I hope mine fully returns after my second. I'm sitting at about 40% now and have been for months.
Excited to get my 2nd shot on Thursday. I honestly can't believe my family (wife, 3 kids, myself) hasn't caught it yet (knock on wood). My wife is a respiratory therapist in CR and has been working with these patients for over a year and even travelled to Chicago for 90 days to help a short-handed hospital last summer. Who knows, maybe we have all had it and didn't know. She had zero reactions to her shots, hoping for the same.
I had a weird nasal drip when I ran or hiked that I just figured was from allergies but only appeared after my apparent infection last year.
For the most part it's gone since my vax completion in March.
I had my 2nd Pfizer vaccination Friday AM. I had no side effects at all.
I had it over Thanksgiving week and my first Pfizer shot last Thursday. Took about 13 hours before I got the body ache/chills. Friday kinda sucked with body aches, but yesterday and today have been generally fine. I think I actually picked something up from one of my kids, so I'm fighting that now (mild sore throat, some coughing) and the symptoms don't match the vaccine side effects.
So far, so good on Moderna, The Sequel. It has only been three hours though.

I don’t recall that at all. I thought we knew there might be side effects for some.
Hoping I am in clear on shot two. It’s been a little over 24 hours and about a flu shot level sore arm is it. Maybe it goes easier on old people, kind of opposite of the disease. Still spending today with a glass of water nearby at all times.
Son who got second Pfizer yesterday also just has sore arm, but he got his a few hours after me. Fingers crossed it will help his Covid long haul symptoms.
