Utah slowly slipping away

I couldn’t agree more. The only thing that matters to me at this point is winning a conference championship trophy. I don’t care about the playoffs. Change my mind.
This where we all want to go.

If we can bring another B12 team into the conversation for CFP's, gravy. Conversation is a place to start. We deserve more than shallow talk though. I want two in.

This is not happening. It would mean the precious B1G and SEC would have to settle with less than 4 each. Sacrilegious!

I’m actually also not really rooting against K-State and BYU, because I want us to stay undefeated, beat them all, and not have ESPN question whether we’re good or got in because someone from the Big 12 had to make it. I understand wanting these teams to lose if we lose, but until that time….we’re in command. Let’s just keep winning.
Thanks for wording this better that my original post (I was also definitely not sober when I posted it last night lol).

K-State being good (and ISU obviously beating them) helps ISU's potential at-large resume if they were to make it to the Big 12 CCG at 12-0 and lose. They don't really have a great win right now and would need one for any chance at an at large at 12-1 over a B1G or SEC school. Same concept with BYU being undefeated - a loss to them wouldn't look at bad if they ended up 13-0. But if we lost to a team in the CCG with multiple losses, I don't think we'd have any chance at making the playoff even at 12-1.

Basically I'm putting enough faith in ISU to keep winning in the regular season but trying to hedge if they lost in the CCG that they would still be able to make the playoff. A lot of season still left, and we need to take care of business, but I think it's a very realistic possibility.

Their basketball team might only have 4 wins by the end of year too

Unless those Big 12 schools grew larger brands and bigger followings, it wouldn’t matter.

Perception in college football has more to do with what happened 30 years ago than it does with what’s happened this season
Clemson football says hello

Look how quickly the narrative on Clemson has changed, and their success was never attributed to the ACC
Yep that 11th ranking really shows a downfall and no love at all.

The ACC just never had another team rise up as FSU couldn’t string multipule wining seasons together. But teams got massive love when they beat Clemson and clemsoning when from being a negitive verb to being a team that gets ranked top ten preseason based on nothing. Perceptions can change fast with sustained success.

With exception of a few very nice seasons here and there and the 2000s, Texas has ridden out their run in the 60s' and 70's very successfully.
One national title in 52 years and they are God’s gift to college football.

I had to look up what TSPP is. It apparently stands for "They So Poo Poo" which is what one of their players called BYU a while ago. See also ... things we tell my 4-year-old nephew to stop saying.

Don’t be absurd. If Big 12 teams win the next 10 nattys of course it would change.

It’ll take some work and every game matters.
Yeah, but go 9-1 in the Natty game and they will point out the one year the Big 12 didn't win as proof that is sub P2 level (which it probably is, but not as much as media spins).

Why is this thread still on the first page?? Nobody gives a s**t about Utah... they suck. Move on.
