Uselessness coming early this year

56 hours and counting! Great Scott, does anyone have a Delorean with a flux capacitor that produces 1.21 gigawatts of electricity? I am going to go crazy with anticipation

88mph is the key. That and having fuel for the Mr. Fusion.

I'm always amazed at the number of people that don't have a clue as to what time or what TV station games are on just a couple days before kickoff. Like do people not put in any effort/research before they even ask a question anymore?

We have this valuable resource called Cyclones.com and can be found here that lists out times and who will be carrying the game: https://cyclones.com/schedule.aspx?path=football

It's all good. Yes, the same people who visit CycloneFanatic.com on the regular could just as easily type "iowa state football tv" into any search engine, but it's mostly harmless conversation starter. Asking what channel a game is on is ingrained in many humans the same as asking about the weather. Yes, humans could simply step outside and look up, but it's filling a void with mindless, friendly conversation.

Not everyone was blessed enough to be born in the age of technology. Thus, they refer to their old habits of asking around. I mean, my dad who is in his mid 50s still flips through the guide to find out what time the game starts despite having a smart phone in his pocket. It would be okay, but he goes to the guide like days in advance so there is like 3 minutes of awkward silence while he gets the guide to Saturday.

Sometimes you gotta enjoy using the paper television guide because older generations don't have much else going on in their retired day and could use to kill a few extra minutes avoiding the immediacy of smart devices. Eat up those anxious minutes/hours before kickoff...any...way...possible.

Yeah, there is a certain level of resourcefulness in those guys.
LOL Good stuff. Reminds me of the time my teenage boys watched me move something they didn't think I could and said I had "old man strength". My secret - an extra 40 pounds of "push"!

Mark Twain said it best - “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”

Is it game time yet?

Exactly right -- "What channel is the game on?" is not someone asking out of complete confusion where they might find the game. They are trying to start a conversation, give themselves (and us) something to talk about. The vast majority of the time, those people could find the game one way or another but would rather come here to talk about it.

Sure, we could all just do a Google search for anything we have any question about and only listen to the experts on ISU sports or other topics, but there wouldn't be much to discuss here if that was what everyone did. Even though it's less efficient than a Google search, it's much more enjoyable to discuss this stuff.

Yes. I was just being lazy. **** talking is definitely warranted. I could have Googled it but then I'd miss out on this friendly conversation.

What really grinds my gears is that the game at Texa$ is on LHN and I have no way to watch it. No options available for a 1-game streaming pass.

*******.

You could get a PsVue subscription for 1 month and get the sports package, that would probably be around $40. Idk if there is another streaming service that has Lhn included with the basic package. That could be cheaper. Just don’t forget to cancel.[/QUOTE]

I missed Vue as one of the providers. I cut the cord and am with Sling presently.

Is that still $25/month for the basic espnU/News package? They advertise it as such but I've used two months or so.

Worked pretty well last year.

If ISU's decent they may be more viewable so may not even be on those channels. If so it's still cheaper than what I would spend at the bar. Healthier too.

I don't even remember. I think I'm at $60/month with the sports package, the kiddo channel package, and some news package thing that was part of a bundle.
