USC Coaching Search - Riley

He’s a smart man. It’s not that he doesn’t want the competition he is just smart and knows it’s better to work smarter not harder. Running that new SEC gauntlet is going to be a *****.
The SEC is overrated, but USC is way better suited for a coach to have success than any SEC program too, imo.

Until the SEC breaks away, it does not make sense to aggregate so many huge ADs into one conference.

OU willingly made itself Nebraska. They should not fall as far, but they're now a smaller edge school in a low population state, competing in a conference with equitable revenue sharing and with many other schools having equal budgets and funding.

I can't even describe how much satisfaction this tweet gives me. They deserve everything they get.
I'm not an ag major, but this is a historic step forward in yield time from planting to reaping sown seeds.

Any ISU ag insider news? Is that premium board info?

The SEC may always be a bit overrated but two things can be true that it's still easily the best conference too. Let's put it this way and imagine this was ISU's conference slate: Bama, LSU, A&M, OU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas/Arkansas...ummmmm there ain't no Kansas' swimming in that pool (well maybe the Longhorns hahahaha!)

That is a group of teams you damn well better bring it every week, which we have seen is a bit of a problem against even WVU and Texas Tech.

The SEC has 13 of 14 schools bowl eligible this year. Poor Vandy!

Wonder if that's tougher than the old Big 12 days when the south rotation included Texas and OU to go along with a good Nebraska, Colorado, K-State, Missouri-ish group in the north

I think the north with that south schedule was tougher. However that actually makes my point as we didn’t fare too well when we had to play those south teams along with that north schedule. The only way we ever got into the mix was with a very down and I mean very down North plus dodging the south

The Riley family needs new names for their dogs, Boomer and Sooner. As a public service, CF should provide a list of potential names.

Tro and Jan, maybe.

No, it is not easily the best. At least not always.

There are 14 schools and they play 8 conference games with uneven scheduling. Plus more TVs/fans. They have a huge advantage in gaming the Bayesian-like network that is perception compared to a 10 team round-robin in the plains. Remove Bama and it is not much different than the Big 12 most years. The main difference between the Big 12 and SEC has been UT ******* up hiring away Saban.

You just made the case that you have to bring it every week except maybe Kansas. And how did that turn out for Texas? Round Robin is severely underrated.

You can do that now and see it's not worked out for anyone but perhaps A&M has stayed as a middle of the pack program. Everyone else is on the losing side of things. But hey, they have more money?
More money puts them on the winning side of things. That is all that matters. The actual football beong played is secondary. Winning football games is only important because that makes them more money.
