If I'm understanding the situation correctly, it was discovered that one of Riley's old assistants at OU - who he has not (yet?) announced was joining him at USC - was caught recruiting for USC while still on OU's payroll.
Naturally OU fans are up in arms. I actually saw one use the phrase "tortious interference" in a tweet about it.

I think one of the biggest reasons why Riley left was he was six plays from having a 4-8 season. He almost lost to Tulane and Nebraska. In addition, he was behind at halftime to Kansas. He realizes how close he came to getting fired at OU and then this door to a $110 million opportunity would close forever.
Glad to see that Riley didn't take this man's smokers.
