Since KenPom has Memphis, Iowa and Xavier well ahead of ISU, it looks like an ISU win over Baylor would put ISU no better than 4th.
The only good news is that by January 1st there will be just 2-3 games from last year still in the Ken Pom equation... o_O

that's not how KenPom works at all
Tell that to the AP voters that had ISU unranked because they were "50th best team in the country" according to KenPom, the model that has Xavier, Iowa and Memphis all above ISU.

I know how KenPom works. Voters do not, yet are using this system that has all these teams ahead of ISU as the rationale for leaving ISU unranked.

What's the point of using Kenpom for your AP vote? Isn't the point of AP supposed to be the opinions of sports writers and broadcasters who are tuned in and up to date on college basketball and the teams' performances? If you're just using Kenpom you are providing no value.

If people want to see how Kenpom is evaluating teams we can just go to their site.

And we can see that Xavier, Iowa and Memphis are 26, 20, and 11 spots higher than ISU and be smart enough to not use it at this point as an overall means to rank teams.

It's unfortunate that people that are in the business don't understand that using a model where this year's rankings for Iowa and ISU are still being affected by the performances of Luka Garza and Javan Johnson is probably not a great idea.

Off topic, but too embarassed to start a new thread: Anyone watching Iowa/Utah St game?
I am not but checked the box score and it said Murray with 25...at the half!! Look, I know we play great defense but did we shell shock the guy that night early, or what?

I’ve mentioned this in a few threads. The way we have played defense so far this year is pretty unique to college basketball. Not many, if any, teams see what we are throwing at them.

I relooked at that box score, thinking there would be lots of 3's or something, but no just high fg percentage. Is everybody getting layups and bunnies, or what? I guess I should consider that a plus in that we held them to 53 which they almost have at half. Xavier and Creighton wins looking darn good right now, too.

We just don’t give up bunnies. Tight man ball pressure, with a HEAVY overplay, on the opposing guards. We funnel the other team’s ball handlers where we want them to go. When you have Conditt and Jones defending the rim, while having Enaruna, Kunc (He seems to always be in the fight place), Brockington, Kalscheur clogging the backside middle, there’s no room for a guy like Murray.

Murray is one of those guys who will put up numbers against ****** teams then be shut down by good teams.

It’s simple our defense takes teams out of their game plan and frustrates them. College has been trying to be the NBA for years now where in your grill defense with killer instinct didn’t exist. Now we do that and it’s hard for teams to adjust.
