I'm not posting the link, but it appears that the idea for Groupons on a mail order brides is not a new one.

I've learned how to spot frauds, and obtain passports for your lady (and child) if they have any. But the thing that puzzles me most is how in the heck do these women go from looking like a Supermodel in her 20's, to Madeleine Albright all in about 10 years! ((Personally, I wish there was a-way-around the "paying to e-mail them" thing)) I have met a ton of those girls on-line, and many are my on-line friends, but I can't afford to keep up correspondance. Oh and is it ever addictive! Just asking if anyone has any experience with them and their thoughts. Thanks.

WAIT! Is it possible that Uncle Billy actually spent the $8000 on a Ukrainian Bride, rather than absent-mindedly handing it to Mr. Potter, which is the widely accepted explanation for how the money went missing in It's a Wonderful Life? cyguytillidie, you just blew my mind!
 
People in the Ukrain think Iowa is a happening place. This thread rules so far. Someone should post pictures of these so called brides for us at work that can't go to those websites.

This movie is always on every Christmas. It is the black and white one.

On Christmas Eve morning, Uncle Billy is on his way to Potter's bank with $8,000 of the Building and Loan's funds for deposit. As he walks in, he greets Potter, who is holding the morning newspaper with headlines of Harry's heroics, and taunts him by reading the headlines out loud. Potter angrily snatches the paper away, but Billy allows the $8,000 to be snatched with it. When Billy goes to the teller, he sees that the money is gone. Potter opens the paper, notices the $8,000, and keeps it. When a frantic search turns up nothing, and with a bank examiner due to inspect the books that very day, a desperate George appeals to Potter for a loan to save the company, but the old man turns him down and swears out a warrant for his arrest for bank fraud.
