I have a feeling that may be very useful for ISU fans in the near future.

We could very be conference mates in a few weeks. Good luck to the Clones. I hope to see you guys in the BE. As an UCONN fan, I would definitely like to add more schools that are more compatible academically with the Huskies. This is also the main reason I prefer you guys over KSU but we will take them too if KU must have them.

For the record, I will always remember you guys because IOWA ST was the first team we played against D1A competition many years ago. I remember that game against Seneca Wallace very clearly.

It will be good for you guys to get away from Texas/OU and be with schools you can compete with. We might not be the SEC, but we are a bunch that do root for each other against OOC competition especially schools from the ACC and the SEC.

Thanks for that memory ... ranks right up there with the all-time painful losses in all sports.

Because of that, we can take credit for helping two programs begin their ascent. The next game after that UCONN game was in the Humanitarian Bowl v Boise St. That was equally as painful -- if not more so.

KSU and KU aren't tied together.

However, I think KSU is there either way. If the SEC's 14th team is down to WVU and Missouri, regardless of which goes, there would be room for ISU, KU, and KSU.

I remember that last game UConn game too. The last game Pete Taylor ever called in Jack Trice Stadium. Thanks for bringing it up, lol.

4 of us flying into Boston Thursday afternoon from KC....Going to Red Sox game Sat afternoon/evening. What is everyone doing about tailgating? Alumni event at the hotel or what?

My general advice for anyone coming without a pass to East Hartford is to grab one of the lots across the street on Silver Lane (across from the Blue Lots/Gate C on the map)

They are fairly cheap, and generally closer to the stadium than the non-pass holder lots down the runway (although some reports from opening game seemed to indicate they have moved some of those spots much closer, so may not be as much of an issue as it used to be) and also puts you close to the Blue Lot tailgating, which tends to be long term season ticket holders especially in the front rows, so if folks looking for a place to hang out, even in hostile territory, odds are good to meet some folks who are willing to share some grill/cooler space, have a friendly if spirited conversation, and wish everyone well before and after the game.

If anyone has any specific questions around the area/stadium/etc feel free to drop a line here

The best place for visiting fans to park is the Aircraft Club parking lot. Put "555 Silver Lane, E. Hartford CT" into Google maps for directions. It's just across the street from the stadium, easy place to leave from. Good place to meet up with others.

That isn't on the parking map at the Rentschler website. I assume that is just a independent parking lot ? What does it cost to park there? How fast does it fill up?

The aircraft club is the best spot....easy in and out. It's $10 a car. They allow just about anything and have use of a REAL bathroom with running water and everything. Not parking/party nazi's like in the main lots....It's totally private....nothing to do with the university.

As long as you get to the field 2 hours before the game you shouldn't have an issue getting in at all.

Thanks for the info. I am originally from Connecticut. Looking forward to the game.

Looking this up on the internet I see the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club at 200 Clement Road. Is this the same thing?

Yeah that's the spot, the actual Club address is on Clement (smaller back road off Silver Ln) but the parking area should actually be accessible from the main road (Silver ln)

Yes, it is the same thing but they open a gate on Silver Lane on gamedays. That's the best place to enter. 555 Silver Lane isn't a real address, but plug it into Google Maps and the arrow is just about where the gate is. After the game, you leave out the back on Clement Road away from all the traffic.

I did that then switched to satellite view so I could see the driveway, the parking lots and all the ball fields. That really helps.
Thanks again for all the info. Looking forward to the game and then visiting some of my family.
