Tyler Harris Appreciation

Foster had a great pass in the lane last night, i didn’t see to who, but they player just stopped and kicked it out instead of taking it to the hoop.

He's terrible on defense, but he's been a pleasant surprise so far.

And is still our best Pick and roll defending big. Solo and Conditt have struggle mightily in pick and roll defense. Foster hedged and got back and blocked a shot on the roll, while the other guys it was a dunk or foul.

Harris and Foster are bright spots in a really, really dim time in this program.

Agree Harris has shown great effort on D. Hard to choose the worst defender on a team of bad defenders but Bolton, JCL, Solo, Conditt would all be in the conversation.

Like his effort, but his shot selection is a little questionable.

You could say this about all our 3 point shooters and it isn't an issue new to this season. Harris has the 2nd best shooting % of our high volume shooters:
  • Coleman-Lands 12-30 (40%)
  • Harris 9-28 (32%)
  • Johnson 5-25 (20%)
  • Bolton 4-15 (27%)
It's almost like our 3 point shooters treat the basketball as a hot potato and a competition who can make the toughest shot. I put this back on the coaching staff in the type of offense we run.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why we have sucked at shooting the last few years. Seems like even when we do get quality looks we get a lot of bricks. I don't know basketball well enough to understand why this is a thing.

Haven't watched much, so I must be off, but I was thinking Harris looked like a liability out there. I try and watch Friday, although that may not indicate anything as it probably won't be pretty. Foster is the real deal, although needs time to develop. I'd play him early and often.

Agree, great frame and some tools to work with. Couple that with Harris, Jackson, Walker, Johnson (and with Hunter coming in) there’s your core for the next few years. Might as well play it that way, commit to it, build toward it...maybe we’ll see some dividends this year, hope everyone stays and then you are all in next year.

After that last game IDK how you can't start freshmen. Something drastic should change. I'd rather the young guys get experience than the old guys just live out their time.

Yep, and I think getting Jackson back should mean that we can put some solid perimeter pressure on the other team when we need to.

I was thinking the same thing. Those two being dogs out front might be the key to getting something started this season, get us running and scoring in transition off of turnovers, basically causing havoc.

I would agree about starting freshmen, except I think one is a lost cause already considering he didn't get any PT the other night.
