Agree. Sark is a coordinator, and should stay a coordinator. He's not head coach material. This will be a terrible hire for them, which is good for us.

9-4 isn't winning by Texas standards. That's not going to cut it. It will be all about conference titles and beating Oklahoma. If he can't do either of those things, he'll be gone.

I think the other truth is that Texas is not a top tier coaching destination any longer. Not at the Alabama, ND, tOSU level at least. Too much baggage. They have to take a risk or two.
I also don’t think USC ever gave him a fair chance to get things going. A year and a half? Really?
This is what happens when you have 5 star guys and a dysfunctional culture. What is the AD’s status? Got to start looking at his leadership.
Wonder if UT saved some $$ by not doing this on 1/1 or earlier (contract retention clauses).
They (UT) keep doing the same things (hire assistants from successful programs) and expecting different results. With their resources, you would think they can open up the checkbook and write a heavy eight figure check to a major name. Apparently this is not the case, which further explains how screwed up their culture really is.

Agreed. Washington isn't the standard; USC is. And his tenure at USC makes this hire head-scratching.

I think Sark is a good choice but not the long term answer they need. UT's issues are off the field, locker room type of things. I don't think he's a big risk, he'll keep them as relevant as Herman but I don't see a huge upside.
Overall agree. But six different places in seven years? We are also including two positions as head coach. Show me how common that is for ISU coaches. I’ll wait.
Charlie Strong was the head coach that led a pre-ACC Louisville to a Sugar Bowl win, and Texas hired him away the year after that. The problem is Strong was never going to be given what he needed nor allowed to change what he needed in order to win at Texas.
