Maybe. I just think if he's offered the Ohio St. job he jumps. As would anyone given the chance to coach the blueblood they grew up cheering for.

Other than the perfectly reasonable assumption that every boy that grows up in Ohio is an Ohio State Football fan, there's little to no public evidence that would suggest he was actually an Ohio State fan. We know know he's a lifelong Browns fan, went to Pitt and then Mt Union, but that's about it. He's never even mentioned it

If I were an ISU fan, I'd be hoping for an Ohio St. national championship in the next two years, or hopefully both. I don't doubt that Campbell loves it in Ames. But you've gotta think Ohio St. is his absolute dream job. If Ryan Day succeeds at the standard they've come to expect in Columbus, I wouldn't be surprised if Campbell stays at ISU for a nice long run. If Day falls on his face and Ohio St. comes calling, I don't think there's a chance in hell Campbell turns that opportunity down.

OSU has a very good chance of ending up at #1 in the 2020 recruiting rankings. Day probably isn’t going anywhere for awhile. Buckeye fans are so insane they care as much about that and beating Michigan as NC’s.

Plus I ride past Urban every day on the bike trail he’s just sitting there waiting to tag back in if needed.

To play devils advocate, isn't possible they inquired last year? I'm sure Ryan Day is well respected in Columbus, but on a national level Campbell was a bigger name than him before he got the job. We will never know if they did reach out, but I wouldn't be surprised if they already did.
I agree with this. I think from an outside perspective, yes, Campbell should absolutely jump at the tOSU job if it opened up. But look deeper at Campbell’s words. I just don’t think his message holds as much weight at a program that can pluck 4-5 star prima donna talent with ease. It resonates with the less heralded but talented kids that have a chip on their shoulder. I thought Campbell would be gone after year 3 or 4 and now I’m not so sure. He doesn’t seem like the type to chase money, or program identity but rather a good fit and supportive fan base/administration.

I’m not saying he would ever leave nor would I ever be upset for leaving. Just think he isn’t cut from the same cloth as the coaches you see in the ACC/SEC that chase money and prestige.

Nah, you’re just assuming that. Campbell has no pressure at ISU. We could go 4-8 this year and no one will say “Fire Campbell!” But if he were to go to Ohio State and not succeed, OSU fans would want him outta Columbus ASAP. Campbell’s not going anywhere for a long time.

This has been my point to people saying Campbell is going to leave. Matt Campbell doesn't seem to care about how much money he makes that's not why he does what he does. Jamie Pollard will keep increasing his salary as needed so there isn't a huge gap between how much he makes and how much he could make somewhere else. Right now, CMC is seen as an icon in Ames and has gained tons of respect from his peers. I truly don't think he's going to leave and go to a place where if he doesn't meet the expectations, they'll dump him as quickly as they hired him. CMC has talked about how special Ames feels and mentioned there was something about this place when he came to coach against us in 2014 I believe. He's also said he honestly believes this is a place that can win championships and I think he wants to be the one to help bring that to us.

One of these days Iowa fans will figure out that Iowa State now has an athletic budget that can afford to keep a coach. I can tell you right now if CMC leaves it won't be because of money. The guy gets it. He realizes that the grass isn't always greener with a high profile job.

I would be leary of OSU right now. With all those people coming forward about the sexual abuse allegations, you never know what may end up happening or costing the Buckeyes.

I agree. I really don't think Campbell would want to step into the program coming off of violations from such things.

Aren't the OSU sexual assault allegations in regards to other sports not football? Plus I don't think you will see NCAA step in and punish like they did in Penn State case. Think punishment will be left up to police and federal authorities and state and federal government.
