True Detective on HBO

Nobody can touch HBO when it comes to making TV shows. They're head and shoulders above the rest and True Detective is a testament to that fact. I'm really curious to see what next year will bring/who they'll cast, etc.

Showtime has really narrowed the gap lately (Homeland Shameless, Dexter, Ray Donovan), but yeah HBO is still number one. Hello Ladies is another underrated show on HBO that I don't think too many people have seen.

I think my biggest gripe with the first season was them clearly leading the audience on with Marty's daughter somehow being involved

Gang Rape Scenes with dolls
drawing sexual pictures that looked like the mardi gras guy
gold crown and black stars pictures

and paintings in the house that look exactly like the ones in the aslyum

WTF?? There is even more stuff that I didn't include

They do everything really well. Most of their TV shows are high quality and also most of their documentaries are excellent. I love the 24/7 series they do to hype up boxing matches. Inside Sports is pretty good too.

I finished this series last night. Good stuff. One question... how do the cops find them at the end? I must have missed something. Did the woman in the house call them?

It's implied that Marty got the woman to show him where the phone was in the house, and he called.

I'm not sure if it was specifically stated, but I think most are assuming that Marty tracked down the phone in the house and made the call before going into the woods.

By the way, I didn't think there was any way the "bad guy" could live up to the expectations the show sets up, and in many ways, the show ends with the "bad guy" still out there, but can we take a moment to just recognize Errol Childress for doing his absolute damndest to be the creepiest mofo he could possibly be? That scene were he just randomly speaks in a British accent (while doing other stuff) was incredibly disturbing. Bravo Errol, you've given a face to my nightmares.

I was disappointed in the loose ends they left in the Carcosa storyline, and never really explained it. They were true to the premise though, which is a story about Detectives and police work. This isn't Constantine afterall. The short format probably had a lot to do with not developing the villain a bit more.

IMO the best Television I have maybe ever seen. Blows Soprano's out of the water. Can't wait to see what is next, and hopefully Harrelson and McConaghey are in it.

I thought it was really, really good. One of the best TV series I've seen. Right up there with Sopranos, Battlestar, Walking Dead, Thrones. Hard for me to pick the best tho.

I agree but you left off BrBa.

I'm really enjoying Fargo so far too.

Interesting... I never noticed it.

Fargo is great. Dark and funny. I love how the grocery owner is being taunted with biblical plague. Its entertaining. I know, there is something wrong with me.

Penny Dreadful is another one to put on a watch list. It sounds like a show your wife would watch on the BBC, but Showtime has an ultra gory hit on it's hands. Josh Hartnett might have actually done something that doesn't suck! That is if it doesn't get too Vampirey.

If you think Lucky Number S7evin sucks you suck
