Like the actual reasons they left? Playing time? Got passed by younger guys? Personal issues? Family (Young has a kid)? Everything.
Thank you for this. Everyone is assuming he is leaving for all this money but in reality he is probably getting a couple grand (if he is going to PSU) and that is it. This idea on here that every top 25 school is raining money down on random DB's is absurd.
Does it matter if Young is leaving for NIL? Most has been forward looking and not even really about Young.
It is coming if the transfer rules and NIL rules are not changed.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if he's leaving for a shot at that and to be closer to his son and girlfriend in PA. I mean put yourself in that postion, go play at PSU (who already recruited you), be closer to your kid, and be back in home state still with opportunity to go to league.
Does it have anything to do with the fact that CMC hasn’t had an announced raise plus extension yet?
I also agree with this, y'all remember the TTU and WVU games. Got torched over the top and thru air, dont think staff didn't notice that. Could easily have said the secondary (besides AJ) and OL were two worst units on team.
Here is the looking in the bright side take. Young has some pretty tough dudes behind or equal to him and they are likely hungry to make their own name for themselves. They are also most likely not worrying about the next level yet.
Is that wild speculation? NIL, staff changes, closer to home, all three. Seem like reasonable theories to me...except playing time and passed by younger player.
Moreover, what is wrong with speculation and assumptions on leaving? It is message board. Fire away.
Whether Young left for NIL does not change the fact NIL is bad for ISU. Very appropriate thread for that to come to the forefront.
One thing affecting everything, including the coaching changes, is the Covid year, in part because it creates a backlog. Then add in NIL.
And add all the money printing going back to 2008, but ramped up recently because of Covid. Money doesn’t enter the economy uniformly. If there is a 10 percent increase in money, all prices don’t go up 10 percent instantly and uniformly, in a way that doesn’t affect the allocation of real resources. You have to consider how money enters the economy. Those closest to the money spigots come out ahead relative to those who receive it later, after it has depreciated in value — or after it is worth less than it would have been but for the production of the new money.
That it doesn’t enter the economy instantly and uniformly, does affect the allocation of real resources.
The NIL thing is a brand new market, and is affecting other things like coaching salaries and television contracts. It is impossible to say where this will all end up, but it seems likely to me that this is a place much new money is going — related directly to NIL or indirectly.
How far and how fast and whether too far too fast is yet to be determined. JMO.

I don't care why he is leaving. It is a blow regardless.
I do care about NIL/transfer rule impacts and possible staff changes. Could this be a sign of those? Yes and it should be speculated about.
Did anyone remember hearing anything about Isheem having a penchant for driving without a license? Nothing recently since this summer so doesn't seem to be relevant here, other than I'm sure he won't be eligible to drive in Iowa any time soon. But it seemed to happen a lot if you look online???

Not saying that it is bad, I am doing the same thing on all of this all too.
Just want to say, there are plenty of reasons that guys leave especially in this day and age and it we have no control over that, but i do trust that staff and believe we will be just fine next year and for years to come.
I just dont like people jumping to conclusions that it is all bad.
Something turned this team into a 7-5 also ran. Maybe this is a housecleaning.
I dont think guys who played only half the game leaving for their best interest is a sign of anything but exactly that, their best interest.
