Toure

Can’t wait to see the Toure vs Daryn Peterson matchup when we play kansas
I'm curious to see how we matchup with him - I don't think he usually brings the ball up the floor, I'm assuming that is Council. But I could see Tamin, Toure and Heise all on Peterson at some point in time.

Cade Thompson was saying somewhere on social media that he watched Toure play Dybansta in HS and he guarded him and shut him down for part of the game. But I can't imagine they'll be matched up other than switches in our game with BYU, he'll be on Robert Wright in that game, I didn't realize Wright is averaging 17/4/6 on 44% 3FG this year. That has been a very good portal steal from Baylor for them

You could tell in the very first game...the kid is built, has length and can move his feet at an elite level. Guess I'd be surprised if he's back next year. Seems like he has at least one steal and dunk every game. But the thing that I really like is the pressure he takes off of Tamin. You can drop Toure on the other teams best guard and Tamin doesn't have to use so much energy on defense. And then he's playing off and getting into the passing lanes.

Going into the season, I was worried about replacing Keyshon Gilbert with a freshman. At this point, even with the offensive deficiencies, I'd take Toure 10 times out of 10 over Gilbert.

Agree and I think that is an underrated aspect of Toures defense. He is elite at getting through screens but when he does get switched onto a big he holds his own. Good teams immediately take advantage of that mismatch but he’s consistently stopped that from happening. Did not realize just how well he does this until I rewatched the Purdue game and saw how he handled their bigs in some of these situations.

It’s not unlike how Rob Jones was able to contain guards in the perimeter when switched. The opposite, but similar of that makes any sense :)

I love that ISU is going to put a premier defender into the NBA. He has the tools and ability to blossom into a 2 way superstar in the league. He makes winning plays constantly and wherever he ends up will be rewarded with that. With him and Hali repping ISU, guards all across the country are going to want to be coming to Ames.
