Toure

Hoiberg
Stevens
Grayer
Royce- Maybe not quite a freshman though
Georges Niang
Lindell Wigington

Those are some of the ones I am chosing from. Probably forgetting a few others.
In fairness to a lot of us - we didn’t get to watch Grayer or Stevens

I haven't read this thread, so SIAP.

Against two of the supposed best PGs in the country in two straight games against Smith from Purdue and Stirtz from Iowa, Smith went 2-8 and Stirtz went 0-8 (his three threes were against Milan and Jefferson).

A combined 2-16 from the field against his defense.

He's a true ******* freshmen.

Are we sure Stirtz is "one of the best offensive players in the country"? He's good against Quad 3 and 4 teams, I'll admit that much.
He's averaging 20ppg the last 2 years in the 10 games he's played against Power 4 opponents. Definitely overrated offensively.

He won’t make any money at ISU because he’s a foreign player. I imagine that will accelerate his desire for the NBA. Will just be up to him and whatever advisors he has around him to figure out. He’s got so much potential that I could see him going earlier than if this was 1997. His jump shot isn’t NBA ready yet but that hasn’t stopped teams before
I think a real comp for him is Marcus Smart, he had a terrible shot and was drafted 6th

I love Toure like everyone here, but doesn't have a good enough jumpshot for the NBA yet, but the defense/mental is already way ahead of schedule. I just hope someone doesn't try to talk him into doing something before it's unanimous (from the people that matter) that he's NBA ready.

He can make very nice money at ISU, be a legend, enjoy being young, and still leave early after Junior year if needed. He should enjoy his time under Otzelberger, not try to get away from it asap.
And his English lessons are important at Iowa State, and are going very, very well.

I'd be curious on the loophole, were talking about a law here not some arbitrary NCAA rule. I don't think Toure playing at Brewster would make a difference, he would have been on a student visa there too.

I'd be happy for the players if I'm completely wrong here.

I'm curious about this as well. I feel like Toure's ability to make money here will be key to keeping him at ISU next year (and I really hope we can). My general understanding of student Visa's is that the law prohibits off-campus employment, but provides some minor on-campus employment. I don't see how Toure can be paid based on my limited knowledge of the process.

Now, I don't think the school classifies these players as employees (because of all the employment law related issues which would then apply), but how does he get this compensation, if at all, when he may not have a right to work in the U.S. under U.S. immigration law? Here's a link to general information from USCIS:

Wondering if there's anyone here with expertise in this. I doubt it, but it does have me curious for Pleta and Toure.

He’s a nasty on-ball defender. Really fun to watch our guards and entire team when they are getting after it on defense. 16-0 run last night was a thing of beauty.

CW on Iowa Everywhere saying Toure might be the best freshman in Iowa State history. Put me in the camp of people that agree with that right now. I don't think it's hyperbolic. At all.
I think I'm on board with this, at least from the freshmen I've seen personally. Fizer was a very different player and the team was bad that year (12-18). I was a little kid when Grayer was a freshman so can't really speak on him. He put the ball in the hoop for sure, although points were probably easier to come by in a Johnny Orr offense than an Otz one.

lowk bro the fact that he can dunk is huge for me. it just brings the energy type shi

What a great find by TJ and Staff.

Killyan Toure is and will be a huge piece of This Team’s story and legacy.

Grayer really came on as a sophomore. He started nearly every game as a freshman, though and was solid, but the next year he turned it on. I don’t remember him having the length. Gary Thompson wasn’t able to play his freshman year, but if you count his sophomore year as a freshman, I would put him in the mix as one of Iowa State’s greatest freshmen. Different eras to be sure. Fizer had a great freshman year. He hasn’t played any conference games yet, but Toure is on pace to be the greatest.
