Top 5 Songs

I forgot about his one. It might have to take the place of Audioslave on my list. The best country song of all time.

Followed closely by these two but although better songs, isn’t as meaningful as HWY 20 Ride. Aslyns voice is phenomenal.

Dream On - Aerosmith
This Present State of Grace - Flogging Molly
The Boxer - Simon and Garfunkel
Got It In You - Banners
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones

It's so tough to leave out entire genres.

Not top 5 of all time. Just what’s been bubbling up lately

Here comes your man - Pixies
Undercover of darkness - Strokes
Bring it on home to me - Sam Cooke
Gringo honeymoon - Robert Earl Keen
Po Folks - Nappy Roots

Not even just entire genres. I would put Amazing, Cryin, Crazy and Livin on the Edge above Dream On (and I love Dream On).

I don’t know that these are all-time “best” per aw, but I checked out my last.fm top plays, and here are several all-time favorites:

- “Maps” - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
- either “Country Death Song” or “Blister in the Sun” - Violent Femmes
- “Pale Blue Eyes” - Velvet Underground
- “Lost Cause” - Beck
- “Beast of Burden” - Rolling Stones
- “Life on Mars” - David Bowie
- “Hallelujah” - Jeff Buckley
- “Sabotage” - Beastie Boys
- “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” - White Stripes
- “With or Without You” - U2
- “7” - Prince
- “Free Fallin’” - Tom Petty
- “King Kunta” - Kendrick Lamar
- “Yesterday” or “Things We Said Today” - Beatles

I have several more niche songs for which I have more plays, but those are pretty hard to argue.

Jeff Buckley was super hard to keep off my list. I can’t count how many times that song has centered me when I was all hammed up.

There are so many great versions of that song (and some crap ones) - but he is so gripping.

Word.

I’m not sure if youve heard it before but listen to the Zac Brown/Aslyn song I posted in this thread above. It has a similar type vibe and is a phenomenal song.

"Voices" - Sturgil Simpson
"Pursuit of Happiness" - Kid Cudi
"The Bird Hunters" - Turnpike Troubadours
"Ain't No Reason" - Brett Dennen
"Left Hand Free" - Alt-J

Hard to pick 5, but these always get an immediate follow-up play when they shuffle through my playlists.

"The Void" - Parkway Drive
"One Step Closer" - Linkin Park
"Enter Sandman" - Metallica
"Hold the Line" - Toto
"Shake That" - Eminem & Nate Dogg

Any of those come on, the volume is going up.

Some great stuff in this thread. Hard for me to pick Top 5 because they probably shift with mood and day, but I always think these are pretty good:

Fight Test - Flaming Lips
… And She Was (E.T. Version) - Talking Heads
Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel
Don’t Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Factory Belt - Uncle Tupelo
