Tim Floyd Resigns From USC

Wrong and wrong. Best coach is LE and how is Floyd the best recruiter? A lot of his players either A)never made it on campus, or B) he ran them out of town after a year or two

Road wins? He went 0-8, 4-4, 3-4, and 2-5 in Big 12 road games during his career. That is 9-21 total. Not that good

People say that LE won with Floyd's guys but yet the dismiss Floyd winning with Orr's guys. I will take LE's 2 Big 12 Titles, coach of the year, 32 wins, and Elite 8 over Floyd any day of the week

Wrong and totally wrong. This is a message board and I'm stating my opinion. As I said, Floyd's turnover ratio was not good, but that does not mean he was not a good recruiter. Who is the only ISU BB coach to recruit a McDonald's High School All American? Tim Floyd. Marcus Fizer. By the way, I'm sure 9 road conference wins is a good percentage in 4 years compared to any ISU BB coach. Not that good? Compared to who at ISU? Orr? No. Gmac? LOL. LE has done nothing after ISU. Southern Miss. BB is a joke. And thank you for proving my point about Floyd's coaching. He did wonders with Orr's players.

Why is it that Floyd is getting in more trouble for this incident than the football team when they had a bigger problem with Reggie Bush just go away?

If you listen to the ESPN coverage (the link that was given earlier in this thread), Andy Katz mentioned that the investigation into these problems at USC is being grouped together BBall and FB. SO, the BBall program will be the "sacrificial lamb," while the FB program will probably escape any penalty. Remember this is the NCAA we are talking about.

I don't care what anyone says...he should have never left Ames. Just a idiotic decision on Floyd's part. He's been a losing BB coach every place he's been since leaving ISU. Had he stayed and built something like an Izzo or Calipari the history of ISU as well as his own legacy would be radically different. Dirty recruiter?! Who cares, so are a majority of college bb coaches.

I heard a known college BB reporter recently say: if you team is doing good dont ask how they got to that point just enjoy the wins why they last.

LE had a better road record and won MORE games than Floyd.

By the way McDermott recruited 5* Brackins. Is he as good of a recruiter as Floyd?

I do not understand what any Cyclone has against Floyd. He was good to ISU and ISU was good to him.

I wouldn't mind seeing a headline read,
"Mc Dermott says he can't handle or explain all of his players taking off every year... ~Resigns!" Floyd raises his eyebrows at ISU again!

Didn't he take USC to the NCAA tourney 3 years in a row?

get mcdermott to get him back to iowa state as an assistant coach. floyd is a very good recruiter.

Is he? I think that is up for debate. Most of his recruits have shady business or $$$ surrounding them

Anyone can be a good recruiter when they're armed with envelopes stuffed with $1,000.

If Floyd came back to ISU, what would happen when we lost scholarships because of poor academic performance just like we did following Floyd's first run here, and just like USC did?

larry, tinsley, two conference nets they cut down, and an elite eight appearance dispute that, but whatever. He was the best SOBER coach we've had.

I'd take TF with no Bulls rumors over a sober LE any day. TF was a better X's and O's guy. TF was a better recruiter (i.e. more smooth). IMO LE caught lightning in a bottle. He needed the exact right type of player to be successful...guys that could take his verbal abuse and use it to make themselves play harder. I love LE, but if I were to choose one to coach at ISU right now with no other "issues" hanging over their head, it wouldn't even be close.

And if we want to talk issues, it was LE's problems that put ISU into the downward spiral that we're still dealing with today.

We've already lost scholarships due to the APR under WM/GMac. What's the difference other than we'd be doing it while WINNING?

Tim Floyd a better X's and O's coach than LE? Hard to tell if he is a good recruiter or not w/o cheating

The APR is not a "same year" measurement. The scholarship losses under WM & GMac were from players who came here under Floyd and LE.

No cyclonefan1983 thread on this topic yet? I can see the thread title now;

"I don't think Harrison Barnes will be going to the University of Southern California because Tim Floyd has now resigned because of O.J. Mayo and that $1000 dollar thing will we go and get him as our next head coach."
