THREE THOUGHTS: Why not target Lazard more?

Yeah, that's the thing, it's really easy to take a superstar WR out of the game when the rest of the team isn't very good. Hopefully they can find ways to get him the ball, but I don't really blame them for trying to take what they're given.

It still starts with our running game. If you can't make the defense fear it a little bit, there's no reason to only put one guy on Lazard .

How are these two sentences almost back-to-back?

"That is exactly why I feel like Iowa State could end 2016-17 with a better record than last year’s team that went to the Sweet 16. Compared to the last two years, the Big 12 is going to be down."

"Pound for pound, the Cyclones might be better than they were a year ago but their record at the end of the year might not show it."

Not being an ass, but there were three sentences in that take and two of them completely contradict each other?

Yeah, I was about to quote the same thing...

I'm still floored by that offensive PI call. How can you let the defender use his hands all game and specifically on that play as much as he did and then call PI on the receiver when he tries to dislodge the defender's hands to get to the ball?

What bothered me most about it was that in the previous possession a TCU receiver had a much worse push off to catch the ball on third and long.

It's actually a schrodinger's cat kind of situation, both of those statements are true until we open the box that is the next basketball season. CW is actually on a level that most of us can't even comprehend right now. :)

Any video out there of the play? I missed the first half and the cyclone express video on cyclones.tv doesn't show it.

Typo: I left one word (not) out of the last one and it changed everything. How it should have read:

Pound for pound, the Cyclones might not be better than they were a year ago but their record at the end of the year might not show it.

Psh....what's that old line? Excuses are like a-holes..... :D

I think Athlon predicted us to be second in the Big 12.

I'm more appalled by the unsportsmanlike conduct on the sideline, but this was pretty bad too.

Yeah, when a team has made it clear that they are regularly going to try to snap the ball as fast as humanly possible to try to catch the defense before they are ready, you have to give a defender the right to get back to the LOS quickly even if it means that the disentanglement is not as neat and friendly as one would like.

You put the not in the wrong location. How you should've wrote it.

I'd target Allen more. The season will suck. He's a star. He deserves to get everything he can.

According to Football Study Hall, through the first three games Lazard has almost twice as many targets as the second guy on the list, Trever Ryen. Lazard has 28 official targets (29.2% of passes) and Ryen has 16 targets (16.7%). As I recall, ~30% is a typical target rate for a teams top receiver. Unfortunately his catch rate is only 50% which is low for an elite receiver (should be 60%+).
