This stat is annoying trust me, but how many players do we have on active rosters on teams? The draft is over-hyped and as much of farce as anything.... There are as many overachiever as there are underachievers. I get this does show a pure talent discrepancy in the program when compared to the pool across the nation, but we are getting players on active rosters that are having successful careers especially as of late

Did some research on active roster Cyclones as of last year:
EJ Bibbs - Jacksonville
Jeremiah George - Dallas
David Irving - Dallas
Leonard Johnson - Bills
AJ Klein - Saints
KO - Raiders
Ahtyba Rubin - Seattle
Quenton Bundrage - Texans
Jamison Lalk - Bills
Josh Lenz - Texans
Oni Omoile - Raders
.

my research came out a little different;

ej bibbs- jaguars
jeremiah george- cowboys
david irving- cowboys
leonard johnson- bills
aj klein- panthers
oni omoile- raiders
kelechi osemele- raiders
ahtyba rubin- seahawks

thats 8 on current rosters. heres a little perspective relative to other schools-

uni- 7
north dakota state- 8
kansas- 8
delaware- 8
central michigan- 9
harvard- 10
indiana- 10
minnesota- 12
nevada- 12

This thread just screams "Basketball School." I'm not sure ISU fans find that term offensive either. Now what might offend is if Monte' is drafted after Wesley Iwundu.

Surly, I certainly don't get offended at being called a Basketball School...at least we are not called a Soccer School (sorry soccer fans...). As for Monte - Iwandu...hard to tell what certain NBA teams want...if Iwandu is a "must have" by a team, they will go after him, even if it means Iwandu goes before Morris.

Don't care about 1st rounders but ISU hasn't had many drafted period, and the connection to their best teams, at least in the past 20 years, being fairly marginal and a lack of draftable players is simple.

Would be fun to see that change while CMC is in Ames.

I'd take Ryan Leaf's production at Wazzu ten times out of ten in a Cyclones uniform.

And there lies the rub among college production, draft position and NFL performance.

Agree. As with basketball, I generally don't get too hung up on draft position or pro careers of ISU standouts, I tend to view what happens post-college as a bonus. But it does informally affect perception over the long haul, having a lot of players succeed in NFL/NBA eventually feeds into attracting better talent.

We may not "need" it as much for basketball compared to football, but sometimes I think comparative to level of success in B-ball, seems like there would be more players with lengthier, higher-caliber careers (although one doesn't always lead to the other).

And of course, it's fun to see ISU players do well at the next level, in itself.
