I think its absolutely necessary. Its not as if one school having a network doesnt hurt the ability of others to put something together. its not like the sum of the individual networks is equal to what a conference network would be.
Thats why there should be third tier revenue sharing. If texas then wants to keep things separate, they can, but they'll share in the financial hit instead of all of us having to bear the negatives to the conference of them having their own network. And i think at that point there's a good chance it becomes a more profitable decision for texas to go with a conference network, as the 10 (or 12 or whatever we have then) split of the full conference network would be greater than the split of 3rd tier revenue with individual networks.
I think you missed the mark quite a bit. The issue isn't 3rd tier revenue sharing. The issue is no B12 rules for the LHN. Texas kept surprising everyone with high school content, fox waiver for 2nd game, etc.
