actually they didn't fill it. They are showing 5 UTSA games this year.
What? UTSA is now getting recruiting advantages over us not to mention to mention taking OUR money? Oh, the humanity!

@PeteThamelNYT Pete Thamel Texas doesn't have any more voting power than anyone else now. Expand, and vote in equal revenue sharing on tier 1 and 2, let everyone do whatever the hell they want on 3.

Boren's mouth started this mess by saying publicly OU needed to explore its options. And now he's continuing it. Good luck, Chuck Neinas.
Pete Thamel And no one has offered a good explanation why Boren needed to talk tonight. Why not defer to the Chair and avoid mixed messages?

MT @Dave_Matter: Deaton asked, if Big 12 issues can't be fixed, could MU leave: "That’s a hypothetical that could occur."

After a confusing night, this much is clear. Missouri hasn't signed their rights away, and the door remains ajar for them to go to the SEC.
And why not just vote it in on tier 3?
Where's texas gonna go?
Media stirring **** up and trying to create to breathe life into the storyline again. It's over for now. Take it to the bank.

The question concerning why Boren felt the need to hold a presser vs allowing the Chair of the conference to conduct the presser that was planned is a valid question. You would think intelligent men could get that, or their stories straight and deliver the same message. Dave Matter, Columbia sports writer, quotes Deaton in so much as saying anything's possible still...doesn't sing solidarity to me really.
Indy would be their only option at this point, but I think that pooling third tier rights just seems unecessary. Let Texas have their LHN for now. We'll see how long it lasts. Throw them this bone, and it wouldn't shock me to see it fail, and they come asking for a Big 12 Network in the future.
No kidding. How can anyone be confused about OU's intentions at this point?
but I think that pooling third tier rights just seems unecessary.
MU trying to pretend they matter. Thet are nothing more than one of the little 5. That guy needs to step down and be replaced by JP.
I think its absolutely necessary. Its not as if one school having a network doesnt hurt the ability of others to put something together. its not like the sum of the individual networks is equal to what a conference network would be.
Thats why there should be third tier revenue sharing. If texas then wants to keep things separate, they can, but they'll share in the financial hit instead of all of us having to bear the negatives to the conference of them having their own network. And i think at that point there's a good chance it becomes a more profitable decision for texas to go with a conference network, as the 10 (or 12 or whatever we have then) split of the full conference network would be greater than the split of 3rd tier revenue with individual networks.

Don't you mean objective? Please look up the definitions of subjective and objective, then correct your word usage.Today was baby steps to stability. New leadership will only make this better in the coming months and years. I just cant get over how important it is to have a new man in place that will take a subjective look at this whole situation.
you must be right or it would not have come down as it has. it has to be equitible in everyone's eye's or it won't last BUT the $$$$$ to get out is nice ;-)I don't know. I just think when you look at as "what are we actually giving up in third tier money and what are we gaining by letting them keep it while splitting 1st and 2nd" in stead of "OMG Longhorn Network" it just isn't a big deal at all. Besides that, ESPN>Texas so if this thing doesn't work out which is more possible than people give it credit for, there may be a chance in the future, ESPN forces a Big 12 network on the LHN just to cover themselves. I think that thought is in the back of Boren and Co.'s mind. I guess in the end, if giving up third tier to keep the Big 12 is what it takes, that's a small price to pay.
