So who would SEC get for #14??? If you assume everybody from the Big 12 and ACC stands pat, their only option is West Virginia, and it sounds like they're not too excited about taking them.

A 13 team league is going to be a NIGHTMARE.
-Either one league with no divisions or unbalanced divisions
-Different number of league games for different schools
-Trying to figure out financial compensation for teams who end up losing home games because of different number of league games between different teams

Is there a slight chance A&M comes back to the Big 12 after all the reforms like T. Boone is hoping, does the SEC stay at 13 for a while with all the awkwardness tension that creates, or do they take West Virginia (delivering yet another blow the Big East)?

Just a thought...would the SEC go "all in" in TX and talk to TCU? Or would that create new divisions that would be difficult to sell the to current membership? I know taking A&M was an attempt to get into that state...but TCU has to be a bit desperate right now and would probably accept any deal offered by the SEC? Again...just a thought?

I thought I saw an article that Auburn was willing to move to the East division if two western teams were added, provided they maintained a protected rivalry game with Alabama.

I know that Texas A&M want out of the Big XII but I'm still unsure that the SEC wants them... for now. I would think that the Big Ten, Pac 12, and the SEC are all waiting to see how the ACC is going to handle a 14 team conference to see if they would be a viable option in the future. I would have to imagine that the other conferences may stand-pat for a little while to study the ACC before they want to add teams themselves. Also is the ACC going to be able to negotiate its current contract television contract with the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh?

--Much of realignment this year has focused - rightly or wrongly - on Texas' Longhorn Network. But Dodds said Texas is proud of LHN and doesn't plan on sharing any revenue from it. Dodds said $5 million of the $15 million per year ESPN is paying Texas for LHN is going to academics, and then UT must share 17 percent with IMG College (UT's marketing arm) and then pay other expenses.

Oh, well that changes everything Deloss. So let me get this straight, $5 mil goes to academics, then 17% of the remaining 10 mil goes to marketing (1.7 mil). So, if my math is correct, that leaves 8.3 million left for you and athletics, per year, that no one else in the conference is getting.....? What a smug SOB!!

Plus a certain % of profits over $20(or)$22 million (can't remember the number off-hand). The $15million is just the base figure.

What if we could put together a Big12North regional network with KU, KSU, and MU which would combined give us $3-$5 million per year? Would that be enough to satisfy everyone? I know I could live with that.

I don't think it's unreasonable that UT (or OU for that matter) should be able to go out and get $10 million for themselves. I think $15 million is pushing over the edge and basically requires them to get 2-3 conference games on LHN - which somewhat diminishes the bargaining power for Tier1 value. I think if it was a $8-$9 million per year deal without the high school content, no one would care much at all.

ESPN overpaid and is going to press UT to siphon content from the Tier1 and Tier2 deals. That undermining of the primary revenue stream over time is the major concern I think. The high school stuff is a no-brainer for any single-school branded carrier. It's the erosion of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 value that matters most I think.

That's what going to be hashed out when the conference meets. There will be restrictions on the content of the LHN. Airing high school games will be one issue brought up and I hope the question of airing B12 football games will come up as well.

How would something like this work for basketball?
Games times could get very dicey scheduling 4 teams on one station, but Ido like the idea of access to all of the North teams games.

You simply stagger the games such that the lower profile OOC games( the Tier 3s) are played at different points in the year. One week you watch Mizzou play a nobody, the next KSU, etc. It would not be that hard.

BTN gets it done fairly efficiently. Don't think it would be an issue.

We already get about that much for our third tier rights.
