*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

Guys, snap into reality. ND will never, I repeat never join the big 12. If anything they would join the big 10, but that will probably never happen either. Wow, folks need to relax.

Really? So if the only way to get to the National Championship game is from being in a 16 team super conference... and the Big 12 lets them do thier own thing TV wise whereas Big 10 does not... you don't think they'd consider the Big 12?

Dude, there is no where to go. Stop pretending like we have options.

This is pretty much true. We may have options, BUT they all depend on what the power conferences do and what their pecking order looks like. We are pretty much at the bottom of that pecking order. If you eventually go to 64 teams, I don't see how we're possibly in that top 64.

At that point, we will just have to focus on making as much as we can in football, so that we can be relevant in basketball at least.

This is where we find out what Texas is truly made of. If they want to stick it out in the Big 12, they can make it happen. They just need to keep OU happy and everyone else will be happy.

The big twelve may have to go to 16 teams just to stay alive and I like the above listed schools to join if need be.

Under your logic, we should just offer membership to every Conference USA, MAC, WAC, and Mountain West team.

Might as well invite Northern Iowa as well..

But UT playing in the Pac 10 will automatically give A&M a boost with some top athletes. They might be intrigued by playing against the best, each and every week.

Also, you act as if A&M could never upgrade their coach. They could easily hire a very good coach that is also a great recruiter. My point is, that they have just as much "infrastructure" as say Arkansas, Auburn or South Carolina. What I mean by infrastructure is alumni base, local talent to recruit, money and facilities.

It's not like if we're talking Texas Tech or KU going to the SEC.

Regardless, their chances of competing in the SEC are still quite a bit lower than they are in the Big 12. This is all a big **** you to Texas, trying to make the Horns feel the hurt......only I don't see how Texas is hurt by this in the slightest.

Let's just black mail Iowa to get into the Big 10. Get pictures of Sally Mason getting plowed and presto! We're in. They owe us anyway considering we just picked up the slack on their non-accredited crap journalism department.

Iowa sucks balls.

My wish list for schools to add

Colorado State
BYU
Wyoming
New Mexico
Arkansas

I'm thinking new markets. Yes, they would be smaller markets (except BYU and Arkansas) but it would be more of an equal playing field for Iowa State. Problem is that a conference with those teams would not qualify as a super conference.

I'm not sure everyone thinks that a superconference is the way to go but we need to start adding people before more decide to leave. Taking from a conference of nine will end it all. Honestly I like the nine team conference we would have. Scheduling would be easy and fair. I hope the remaining teams see it as one less mouth to feed and stick around.

Why has this not happened previously when conferences break up? Probably because this is American where the rule of law sets the tone. Obviously there is language in these conference deals that make it possible for schools to leave.

If A&M leaves the conference, they will be governed by the contract that they signed.

I will guarantee you that there is nothing in the contract that makes them liable for our financial decisions (building new facilities).

UT, OU and A&M (in that order) held most of the cards in this latest deal, and why would they sign a contract that makes them unable to ever leave schools like ISU?....They wouldn't.

Your not getting what I'm saying here. It is about if the conference disbands and there are no exit fees and all tv contracts go away. It wasn't about A&M at all or any individual school for that matter. Talking about schools have loans backed by earning projections based upon signed tv contracts. If conference ceases to exist then all money is gone as well as all signed contracts that could protect the schools.

I wonder how many seasons without a bowl game it would take for them to change that tune.

Other thing is, A and M thought it was hard recruiting against Texas. They just opened up Texas to LSU, Auburn, Alabama etc even more. I think they will look back on this and really regret it.

And why would Texas keep playing them? I wouldn't if I were them;.

That's the spirit! I hope Jamie Pollard shares your convictions.

There is a reason we told Texas, Oklahoma, and A&M they could have a larger percentage of revenues and buy-out fees last summer.

Jamie Pollard will do everything he can, but it's like bringing a butter knife to a gun fight.

Including Arkansas and to some extent BYU in the same category with New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado State is an insult to those schools, frankly. Also, I would include Louisville and TCU way ahead of those three as well.

I am not the only one with this logic. I do not want super conferences, but IF it happens why not add teams from the Big East. I did not say anything about giving invites to every school from every conference either dude.
