The NBA is a farce

I just can't bring myself to care. Granted, something that resembles defense emerges during the playoffs, but it is still just a 2 on 2 game with 6 other dudes doing stuff that may or may not actually benefit the team as a whole.

This is no different than the games seen on neighborhood park courts.

Nobody is forcing you to watch. I don't enjoy hockey so I'm not watching the playoffs, nor am I complaining about it.

I've enjoyed the first few days of the NBA playoffs very much. Especially after the crappy college season we had to endure nationally. Very refreshing.

i do love NBA playoff basketball... what makes me not like it as much is they spread the games out so thin so they have it on tv every day. sometimes teams have 3 days between games... so very annoying to say the least.

You've got to be kidding me. The playoffs this year have been fantastic...almost every game has come down to the last two or three minutes, with some of them coming down to the last possesion. Really if you can't enjoy the quality of play in the NBA this year then you just don't like basketball.

I have lost a lot of interest in the NBA.

But I will say one thing I enjoy is the "extra pass" and ball rotation.

But I agree for the most part it's mostly a 1-on-1 / 2-2. I feel the 25-sec clock has a lot to do with it; not a lot of time to run set offenses.

I like college basketball a lot and love the NCAA tournament, but the quality of play is so much better in the NBA it's not even close. You're right though, you do see a lot of isolations, and two man games, but that's because the level of team defense in the NBA is so ridiculously high that just running offensive sets aren't going to get you a good look most of the time. Combine that with guys like Wade, Rose, LeBron, Carmelo, Kobe etc. who are just unstoppable 1 on 1 and you can see why running isolation plays are the best chance to score a lot of the time.

NBA teams can play zone defense to keep teams from successfully executing 2 on 2 or 1 on 1 isos as long as they don't camp a defender in the lane for over 3 seconds.

Blah blah blah same ol' "NBA SUCKS" from people who never watch. There's a reason it looks like they aren't playing defense and it's because the players are so good at offense! Is it that hard to understand? Almost all these guys were big time scorers at their previous gigs (college ball, euro league, etc.)

Defense always looks bad when guys can light it up. End of story.

Can the OP or a mod add a poll to this? Four Options, you like it, you hate it, you like it come playoff time or you just don't care. I would really like to see where the majority of CF's would side.

I grew up in the NBA hayday of the 80's and followed it in the 90's until Jordan left after his sixth title. The game became unwatchable but is slowly starting to get entertaining. I still prefer to watch highlights than sit through a whole game.

The one thing about this year's playoffs is that it's completely up for grabs. You have veteran championship teams like the Celtics, Lakers and Spurs and then young teams like Chicago, OK City and Orlando. Then there's the Heat who have two superstars and a solid third player. Anybody could win it

I beg to differ, but won't debate this with you, playoff basketball is the best basketball played anywhere at anytime.

I beg to differ. They may have the best basketball PLAYERS anywhere at anytime, but it is NOT the best basketball played anywhere at anytime. The NBA game is an abomination of basketball.

Keep in mind the rules are different - 24 second shot clock, no hand checks, etc. Have you watched the Celtics, Bulls, or Lakers in the past year? These are probably the best defensive teams on the planet, at any level of basketball. If they were playing the best NCAA teams this year, scores would look something like 120-40.

You either don't watch the NBA or don't know anything about basketball.

It got unbearable in the late 90's-2000ish era. Whenever Iverson was playing for the Sixers and they made the finals, that's when the NBA was borderline unwatchable.

It's so much better now.
