Olde Main Long Face-Thought I just drank a bottle that someone was ashing in all night.
Hub City Oatmeal Stout-This one was also too smokey for me. I don't think its my tastebuds because I like some beers like this but these two are terrible.

My vote is for the Two Rivers at Court Ave Brew Co downtown. I have never seen my brother send a beer back and this one went back before the waitress even left the table. We decided it tasted like they actually went down to the Des Moines/Raccoon and started bottling it there. Terrible beer.
Just getting back from Jamaica, and wow does Red Stripe taste different down there. It is really sweet and not at all bitter and skunky. Here it tastes just nasty.
i am a bit partial to the Hamm's. the old man drank Hamm's Golden Draft when i was in school. i still buy the hamm's by the 12 and i am a hairy bastard.

It's like they pre-skunked it for you, so you wouldn't have to worry about skunking it by accident.

Beer is measured in ABV, not proof.
Guinness typically runs about 4%, the same as Bud Light. Unless you're talking about the foreign extra or export stuff, which is like 7 or 8.
I suspect most people don't like it because it has a lot of body. I don't really care for it because it doesn't have enough
Not a huge fan of Irish dry stouts. I much prefer other varieties of stout (Russian Imperial - my fav, Oatmeal, Milk, English, American etc.). Dragon's milk is great, and runs around 9% ABV. New Holland makes some really good beer, and that one is one of my favorite. I think I have a bottle or two in the fridge downstairs, actually.

A lot of people may also not like Guinness because some bars dont use nitrogen. Some places have the Guinness hooked up to standard CO2 canisters which really mess with the taste. Love me some Guinness though.
I have not stumbled across to many beers I would not have a second of if offered and throughly enjoy trying all new brews. However, one time at El Bait Shop in Des Moines, I ordered a Rogue Smoke Ale. Bad mistake! It tasted like someone had dumped a whole bottle of Tones liquid smoke in it. It was so potent I couldn't finish it.
If it's any indication, the recipe I brewed at home of the Surly Furious is probably my favorite beer of all time, (and not because I made it myself). I took a 6 pack into work to let everyone sample it and they were pretty much floored. You can get the kit at midwestsupplies.com, under the title Ferocious. Since the thread is about terrible beer, I'll nominate Milwaukee Special Reserve Ice... It honestly tasted like you were sucking on skunk balls, and the day after was even worse. Worst of all was that it came in a dirty thirty, so there were 6 extra beers to try and get down.
That would be Picketts. Yes it sux! The backwash at the end of the can made me almost vomit!
Sam Adams is a Lager. And I don't see how you could be so general as to say, "Any Ale" My thoughts would be that you have probably only tried one or two true Ales. There are so many, with so many different flavors, hoppyness and other flavor nuances, there is no way to say that any Ale is bad.
Honestly, I've tried a real load of beers in my life. And I can honestly say there are some I prefer to drink to others. But only one that I would ever say, "No thank you" to if someone offered me one. That is "Black Label" Beer. I don't mean the generic "BEER" it's name is Black Label, written in fancy cursive letters on the label. That stuff literally tastes like bad water with beer flavored koolaide added.
Schlitz used to be right up there as well. Until they got the old formula going again. It's an amazingly good beer now.
Don't get me wrong, I drink the Miller, coors and Natty lights of the world just like anyone. But it's really sad how watered down the american beer palette has become. With the likes of Bud, Miller and Coors flooding the market and our sporting events, they've driven out a lot of good old beers that actually packed a lot of flavor into them. I'm really a fan of the basic Leinenkugel's original now. Not just because my family is from that area, but because it still has that taste of old American beer you just can't get in the light varieties that are out there now. Not that those are bad, but it's really nice to have a big beer flavor when I want a beer.
Sam Adams does make some Ales as well, but you're right the flagship is the Boston Lager. And their ales are good, darn it! It's an exciting day when I walk into Hy-Vee and see that Summer Ale is back on the shelves.
Was that the $9 bottle? I had the same experience there. I have never found a beer before that I could not muscle down. I tapped out against that crap and poured it out. I have found the O'fallen Smoke to be pretty good. Give it a try. It's more subtle. It took a lot of courage to try another Smoke after my El Bait experience.
