MrsWx and I took the kids to see The Lorax today. I'm not a fan of Dr. Suess and really wasn't that interested in seeing the movie but I've got to admit, this was a really good movie.

I remembering visiting my grandma's house when I was little and she would read the book to me (I'm almost 19 now, and this was probably 12-15 years ago)... But I don't remember too much about it... I vaguely remember something about trees getting cut down or something? I could be wrong though

Well made, but the political message was a bit heavy-handed for my taste.

How is anyone with kids "not a fan" of Dr Seuss? I didn't know that was possible

There's a great thread debating the political side of this film in the cave. If you want to talk about that part of the movie, do it there, please.

Love that book. Always my favorite (**** Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham). Glad to hear it was a really good movie even if IMDB shows it as a 6.5/10.

Sad that capitalism has to in effect, be anti-environment. If I had to pick between an economic system and a clean, sustaining, healthy planet, I will take the later.

If you think that capitalism is "anti-environment", then how do you explain Eastern Europe, where "capitalism" is only now catching on after at least 50 years under the direct opposite of capitalism?

And since I haven't seen the movie yet (remember the book, depressing but it was a good book), I can't say it's all "environmentalist propaganda". Even if it DOES have that subtext, as long as it's a good movie it should be OK for kids.
