Jacobson did indeed interview for Minnesota. Confirmed by multiple people in and around UNI.

Would not shock me from talking to people around UNI if Kyle made the move to Ames. He is a very, very good Xs and Os guy and has great recruiting connections in Iowa. He could absolutely help TJ lock down the state and there's some really, really good talent in the state for the next 5 or 6 years.

This is a move for putting the right staff together long term for Iowa State and doesn't have as much to do with one year of AJ. In fact, I've talked to people that fully believe that if Kyle goes, AJ may decide to stay in Cedar Falls assuming Jake doesn't go anywhere. It's more likely that AJ's sister Emerson transfers to play at Iowa State and she would certainly help there. She's really good.

Lock down Iowa? Is that some important priority?

My biggest concern with a Bolton, Hunter, Green trio wouldn’t be size but more so all three of those guys being fairly ball dominant

Would be if it were me. Probably 10-12 high major level kids in the next 5-6 years plus another 15-20 that can contribute at that level. I'd certainly want to have the first pick of that group and Kyle can do that.

And now that the Barnstormers have taken a giant step back there are so many opportunities to get kids that were previously, and intentionally, steered to Iowa.

True.... but better than last year with Bolton as the only option and the sole focus of the D. That would concern me more. Get talent and figure out the minutes in the fall.

AJ is a top guard in the country and would immediately change the trajectory of next year’s team.

AJ is not a point guard. Too TO prone. Maybe slightly better at pg than Bolton, but that pair would absolutely need Hunter to be great.

Locking down the state of Iowa is too strong. First it is impossible, as Iowa is a solid school and decent basketball tradition. There are kids that grow up strongly aligned to Iowa vs Iowa State.

Where I think ISU has struggled is projecting IA HS players outside the top 100. It seems like we only go after the Barnes, Paige, Weiskamp & Foster level. And undervalue the Krieners, Bohanon, Born, Robbins level kids. I am sure I am missing an ISU example, but the last risks we took on Iowa HS kids were Jared Homan and Ross Marsden.

I think when ISU is active in observing some of the lesser players, it can help land kids like Barnes, Paige, Uthoff,

the last risk ISU took on an Iowa HS kid was Brady Ernst

Ideally Hunter would be the PG, maybe a transfer comes in and runs it initially like how Kane started the season at PG before Morris took over. It’s hard to say this early in the year who’s starting where.

Id still feel better about this team with Hunter and AJ in the backcourt than last years team.

Is there anyone who would take last year’s team? Lol

Just saying that if Green and Bolton were on the floor together (in the Big 12), there will need to be a real PG as well.

Although I have no reason to think Green is transferring anywhere.

Well Green’s dad may be heading to Ames. And I would agree that both guys would be immensely better with a true PG who can really distribute the rock.
