Been a member for years, how about you, since you know nothing about how much things cost in their stores or that they switched the muffins, before when you had to purchase 2 packs, they would not sell you one. We go down to the one in Ankeny every month or so, before that we went to the one in W. Des Moines.
As of last year anyways muffins were $9.99 for two packages of 6, they were never $14.

Kirkland 2.5 lb medium roast coffee recently went from like $15 to $18.

Still a good deal but I was a little surprised as other things I've gotten haven't really gone up in prices recently.

The oblivious people shopping there though. Today I was at the Ankeny one and a guy kept stopping and leaving his cart in the middle of the aisle to walk to a different part of the aisle to get something. Me and the people behind him kept getting stuck. The third time it happened I “gently” rammed his cart out of the way so we could all pass. He didn’t even look at us as we went by him.
I need to get myself into the right mindset to enjoy shopping at Costco. Going to Costco, especially on a Saturday, is like a trip to the demolition derby at the county fair and a Easter Egg hunt all rolled into one. Start out by grabbing yourself a pop and a hotdog. Then get yourself a cart. Embrace the chaos as you dodge people pushing shopping carts loaded up with over a hundred pounds of stuff as you search for where they moved that item you are looking for. All the while keeping an eye out for those major traffic jams surrounding the really good free samples. Nothing matches the trill you get after successfully completing your second swoop and scoop run on those free bagel bites or protein bars that actually taste good. Then treat yourself to some soft-serve ice cream before you depart as a reward for surviving another shopping competition.

Does anyone else ever go back for a second helping of a sample?

Is there some sort of unwritten rule there?

When I do it I get the first sample, then walk around a bit (maybe to another sample station, maybe not) and circle back around as I assume plenty of other folks have gotten to enjoy the tasty miracle fresh out of the toaster oven.

Will only do it if there's not a bunch of people there.
The costco sample people are usually awesome. They'll even give hints on tweaks.

Hell yes I go back for seconds. Those sample employees don't give a damn and I don't either.

Had one get rude with the boy. Had to stare that old lady down for a bit.

I just look at the permanent chaos and traffic jam of my local Costco parking lot as I drive by and say “nah I’m good”. Of course that means they are doing great business.

A lot of the hysteria is $4.90 typical local gas but Costco “cheap” gas at $4.35…and I went EV to solve that anyway.

Those sample folks have magic touches to make something perfect when walking by.

Pretty sure most of those things wouldn't taste nearly as good if I made them at home.

You still get cash back when you use their EV charging station. Might as well enjoy the carnival while you are charging up.

Outside of copious amounts of alcohol, I just never saw much of anything I would need in bulk.

Not everything there is necessarily in bulk. And of the stuff that is more bulk there's lots of stuff that is in larger packaging than your normal store but it might be in the form of a 2 pack instead of a single (this is probably the rough difference for most of the frozen foods), so still pretty useful for a single person.

Ive found great deals on appliances and tvs there that saved me hundreds on each.

Their pre-prepared foods can be pretty good too. Around the holidays i'll almost always end up picking up one of their large $6 pumpkin pies. Their take and bake mac and cheese and wings are also pretty solid.

And in general, anything nonperishable like TP, you may as well buy it in bulk if its going to mean savings.

Plus the gas savings (cheaper plus 5% back with costco card)

If you do, buy some of that sh*t. Not sure about Costco but we were at Sam's and wife sampled some kind of flavored water and we bought a few cases. The old guy running it said something along the lines of "thanks you're helping me keep my job" so it sounded like sales does impact them.

I love to get the whole bean coffee, Kirkland Laundry detergent, Kirkland Canadian Whiskey (same as Crown Royal to me but way cheaper), and the Kirkland chicken nugget things (chunks of breaded chicken) and these are just a few.
Whole bean coffee and the Kirkland Canadian whiskey pays for my membership. Not a huge fan of the Canadian whiskey but it is cheap enough it is hard to ignore. I’ll get a few other brands when they are on sale. The fruit and veggies are nice. We get the big bag of carrots.

What’s price on the whole bean coffee you like per pound?

Heard a Mabel at the Table talk g to a manager a few trips ago and she was really interested in her numbers from the previous week. So there’s definitely something to that.

Are they just the normal Pillsbury fridge kind or something else?

Since I can’t make through the store, I look online and then have my wife FaceTime me when she’s at the areas I need to look at (ie meds).

We’re the kind of people that don’t like fancy foods so we get their mashed potatoes rather than the box powder stuff as much as possible. Cheap and easy to add to my BBQ meatloaf, chicken and noodles, meatballs, or beef. Their leftover rotisserie chicken works amazing for cooking bulk chicken noodle soup.

Haven’t been able to use the smoker in 2 years but this year going to have it moved to our deck outside our kitchen. I can do the prep for the most part, so I just need to train my wife on exactly how I like to handle, place, etc the brisket so she can do the lifting, filling hopper, etc as I track temps remotely. Costco is/was our go to for that. Guessing prices are too high right now.
They are like the pillsbury rolls, but bigger, flakier, and better You don’t even need to butter them.

Have your wife pick up a container next time. I think you’ll enjoy them. But be warned, they can be addicting :)

My Costco membership pays for itself thanks to the Three Bridges egg bites.
