Texas at Iowa State predictions.

This is going to be tough. It would be nice if Hilton could be crazy and full again, but I doubt that will happen, for whatever reason. Probably not an important enough game to get the students' attention.

This is something of a trap game for Texas. If they are looking forward to their next game with Kansas on Saturday, they may be a little bit distracted. On the other hand, that game only means as much as it does if they beat ISU on Tuesday. Texas has 3 conference losses, KU two.

Imho, Texas has been every bit as impressive as KU this year, at least in conference. They have won 9 or their last 10. I just don't think ISU can handle them inside. Unless ISU can get Texas' bigs of Holmes and Ridley in early foul trouble, I don't see ISU getting the win. I hope I'm wrong.

We were on the verge of blowing them out in Austin until a 3 point thunder dunk was transformed into zero points and foul trouble for our star player. Could we lose? Sure. But pounding them into oblivion the way the previous game started is more likely.

We have won 4 of our last 5 and we are "flailing" right now. That 14-0 start seems to have changed perception.

All were close, 3 were against the bottom half, and the loss was the worst of the season. The OSU win is still good but they've lost 6 straight, and the TCU game had Mel's 48, but it shouldn't have been close.

Instead of flailing, I'll say, not performing as well as they are able to.

I think this is going to be a game where not being able to make free throws does us in.

Texas: 75
Iowa State: 73

We have won 4/5 but:
2 of those wins were ugly against bad teams (Oklahoma State/TCU)
1 of those wins was ugly against an average team (Texas Tech)
1 of those wins was a good win (Oklahoma)
and the loss was an absolutely *** kicking (West Virginia).

4 out of 5 in the W column and 4 out of 5 in the "didn't play welll" category. You can only play with fire so many times before you get burned. Good teams burn you. If we don't wake up and play well down the stretch 10-8 is an ugly possibility.

I was at the game in Austin. Still drives me nuts how badly we came out of halftime and allowed Texas to jump all over us. We were clearly the better team most of the first half. Ridley and Holmes destroyed us in the paint, they will be a tough matchup again so we better be hitting our shots.

With how strong the Big 12 is this year, expecting frequent blowouts isn't realistic. Tech has only lost one conference game by double figures and that was ISU in Lubbock. TCU isn't a pushover anymore and the West Virginia game was the first time all year that the team played really badly (compared to several times the past few seasons). I'm really surprised at how pessimistic/unrealistic a large segment of the fan base is given our 19-5 record and probable position as a top 5 seed.

Oklahoma State is far from a "bad" team, especially in Stillwater. That statement is laughable.

I get the feeling that the team has changed in it's dynamic a little from the beginning of the season. I think the KU game revealed our flaws to the rest of the conference. Mainly we don't have a lot of length and we aren't a prolific 3 point shooting team. Early in the year and against non-conference teams we enjoyed the previous years success at 3 point shooting to work to our advantage, teams were concentrating on defending the 3 point stripe. But time has shown that we aren't that great from the great beyond and now we have had to fight for our inside shooting that earlier was open to us. In non-conference we were rebounding the hell out of the ball because teams were packing us on the perimeter leaving the paint open. I think it is amazing we still have enough skill to win in the paint with a lot of these teams that are built more like normal college basketball teams with the token center.

I think Texa$$ is really a solid team this year, but I have seen a lot of solid teams enter into Hilton and look average. I think ISU wins by probably 5 or 6. I think both teams will be over 75 points.

ISU 84 - Texa$$ 79

Hard fought, pace the room victory for the Clones. Naz's stroke stays as does Thomas'. This game begins streak of return to non-conference form.

Great point. I think some of that can be seen in the complacency with the upper deck sections cheering at Hilton right now, too. Most people (at least in my section) seem to be content to sit on their hands and don't worry about cheering. Maybe they feel the team is so good they don't need to provide that extra lift and support that Hilton always used to?

I feel like some of the past few games have had complacent crowds. Hope the crowd gets back up for it for Tuesday's big game! We're going to need it.

Go State! I am ecstatic with 19 - 5 right now!

yeah, I'm a little worried about the crowd Tuesday. A lot of fans seem less excited about our team right now. Maybe they'll be just as loud, but they sure are ******** a lot for an over achieving 19-5 team. These kids are having a phenomenal year. I'm embarrassed for the guys that call in to the radio shows and ***** about this team. Like the guy who thought our win at okie state was a poor showing against a bad team. Their lack of perspective makes me cringe for them.

It is rather embarrassing indeed. As others have already said, I think a lot of our fans got big heads when we went 14-0 in non conference and thought we were automatically elite and expect to win the conference. If people realize that just 3 years ago, we were .500 for the season, maybe the people complaining about this team will come down to earth a little.
