Aside from Wirfs and Linderbaum, they haven’t had (ahem) the best luck recruiting OL lately. The ‘20 and ‘21 signing classes were basically resets for their OL room—and the former was all “projects”.Was snooping around Hawkeyereport and saw they updated their summer roster as well. The thing that stuck out to me was how much smaller their OLine is across the board from ours. I think I counted maybe 4 guys over 300 and we have like 20. Each program probably has it's ideal standards, but I found it interesting in terms of a p5 offensive line.
And Linderbaum was a DL out of HS. Justin Britt is the only real exception.
I feel like Jeff Myers has done a great job integrating talent in every recruiting class since he was hired as full time OL Coach. I believe that started with the Treiber, Hufford, Simmons and Remsburg class, though he might get credit for Joey Ramos, Trevor Downing and Zach Ross as well.
