NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

The Warriors can go small because Draymond is a guy who is an elite rim protector who can switch onto guards too. He’s a top three defender in the league, that means a lot no matter what team you’re playing on. The Warriors have been so good because they are terrific on both ends, Draymond’s impact on the defensive end is every bit as big as Curry’s impact on the offensive end.
Throw Draymond on literally any other team and he's not an all-star. He's a great passer but it is easy to make plays when you have 3 of the top 10 shooters of all time on your team. Iggy, Klay and Durant are also good defenders. Draymond is pretty limited offensively.

This is great for the NBA. Unlike the MLB and NFL, the NBA is a player-driven league. You love Lebron or you hate him, not the Cavs. You love Curry or you hate him, not the Warriors.

The vast majority of people I've talked to have a "team," but aren't as die-hard for their team as they are for their respective NFL and MLB teams.

The NBA will NEVER be team driven, so having 4-5 "super teams" is actually a great thing for the league. It gets people talking and watching.

Honestly, I'm a T-Wolves fan but I'm more likely to watch a Warriors/Rockets game over the T-Wolves.
This is a good take. I work with a guy who is a perfect example of this. He doesn't follow a specific team. He likes different players. He's got jerseys from a bunch of different players and whatever team they are currently playing for. He follows the league very closely.

I'm not saying that all NBA fans are like this, but there are a lot more of them than there are in other sports leagues.

I'm like this too. I liked Minneapolis pro teams growing up but the T-Wolves were awful so I never became a fan. I'm a fan of whatever team LeBron is on.

Draymond isn't a big scorer but I don't think he's limited offensively. He's second among forwards in assists behind only LeBron in the last four years. Yes it's easier to get assists playing with the team he has but he's a very good passer. He's also taken a more limited role offensively with the addition of Durant, two years ago before he came, Green averaged almost 14 a game and shot nearly 40% from 3 and over 7 assists. Put him on a bad team and he's the guy you run your offense through and his usage rate and scoring numbers go way up.

You literally just called him a top 12 player in the NBA and then challenged me when I disagreed with you.. Lol which one is it?

I don't see a career 25% 3-FG player fitting in with the Rockets. Surprised he's still in the league.
Everyone keeps bringing them up but they're going to be different next year. Maybe lose Capela. Already lost Ariza. CP3 isn't getting any younger and is still very injury prone. Right now their starting PF is Ryan Anderson and their C is Nene.

They could still lose Mbah a Moute, too. He was a valuable rotation player for them until he got injured late last season.

Tyreke Evans to the Pacers for one year at 12 million dollars. Nice deal for both sides. Evans gets a decent one year deal in a tough market and a chance to hit free agency again in a year. The Pacers get a second playmaker to help ease the load for Oladipo. Indy is shaping up to be a top three or four team in the East next season.

It may have already been stated - but when will the league decide to eliminate conferences and have a 1-16 playoff seeding system?

As fun as I think this would be I don't think it will happen due to travel.
