NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

There isnt a point to this next season at all, all of those up and coming teams in the western conference might as well punt on the year, Utah, Denver, Min, heck even SAS because what are they fighting for a 7 or 8 seed? Why would A Davis stay at NO, he'll want to be on a super team soon as well. This is going in a bad direction, I agree the only way to rid this is would be to not cap salaries either that or a hard cap, how can a team thats way over the cap still be able to sign anyone for above the minimum is beyond me.

Exposed was probably not the best choice of word, but Golden State can run him at 5 like they do because of all the lengthy wings they have. Iggy is just as important to that defense as Draymond is. Iggy is a great defender, Klay is a pretty damn good defender, Durant can guard most all players, Livingston can switch on to lots of players, etc. What other teams can realistically run the lineups the Warriors can to help make that defensive scheme go?

I'm not saying he isn't a really good defender, because he certainly is, but that doesn't mean a much when you are playing for the Kings/Suns/half the eastern conference, etc. He looks so damn good because of the team he is on.
 
I get the hate on mega teams but that doesn’t mean they can’t be beat. Houston looked they could have taken down GS in 6 games.
Who knows if the championship series goes differently if JR isn’t a bonehead.

Only 7 years ago Dirk, an incredibly washed up Jason Kidd, a washed up Shawn Marion, JJ Barrera, and Jason Terry beat the Miami Heat in 6.

It doesn’t happen all that much but it can.

The Warriors can go small because Draymond is a guy who is an elite rim protector who can switch onto guards too. He’s a top three defender in the league, that means a lot no matter what team you’re playing on. The Warriors have been so good because they are terrific on both ends, Draymond’s impact on the defensive end is every bit as big as Curry’s impact on the offensive end.

I agree that Draymond is a great defender, but his value is propped up by playing on Golden State. You cannot deny that. Top three defender still isn't doing anything for the teams I mentioned before. Defense is great, but you need offense to win games, too, and Draymond is a terrible shooter, who only gets buckets because of the players around him.

And, this is all in response to the name 10 better than Klay, Boogie, Draymond comment, where he absolutely is not in that discussion. Defensively, yes. Overall, no.

Avery Bradley off the board and back to the Clippers. I expect the Lakers to make a huge deal either today or tomorrow. They want to be in the spotlight and the Warriors just took it from them.
 
This is great for the NBA. Unlike the MLB and NFL, the NBA is a player-driven league. You love Lebron or you hate him, not the Cavs. You love Curry or you hate him, not the Warriors.

The vast majority of people I've talked to have a "team," but aren't as die-hard for their team as they are for their respective NFL and MLB teams.

The NBA will NEVER be team driven, so having 4-5 "super teams" is actually a great thing for the league. It gets people talking and watching.

Honestly, I'm a T-Wolves fan but I'm more likely to watch a Warriors/Rockets game over the T-Wolves.

It may have already been stated - but when will the league decide to eliminate conferences and have a 1-16 playoff seeding system?

I think a hard cap should be considered. These billionaires don't care about the luxury tax if they're winning.

People definitely hate the Warriors.
 
I don't have any problem with players going where they want. And let's wait to see what Cousins looks like after he recovers. Clearly teams were concerned about his injury and probably his locker room presence as well as he wasn't getting any good offers.

This Warriors team would sweep the mavs and heat.
