NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

Throwing good money after bad. You just know the Kings will throw an outrageous sum at him. Neither outcome is great for the Bulls, but I'd rather walk away with nothing for the Butler deal than to pay him more than 20 mil per year for the next however many years. That's a massive gamble. Let the Kings roll the dice.
I mean Lauri would be considered something

What's their shooting guard situation now that rivers is gone?

They had a bunch of guys last year. Lou Williams, Tyrone Wallace, Sindarius Thornwell. Mainly Sweet Lou but both of those other guys showed promise.

And Dunn, but Lavine was the key to the deal at the time.
The other aspect is the Bulls have almost no money on Cap next year they can justify with over spending and still spend on other FA's. Not the smartest practice but if the Bulls feel committed to "the original plan" the could justify it.

And drafted 2 guards last week that LAC will want to get playing time for early. Shai Gilgeous-Alexanderand Jerome Robinson

Pacer could be interesting, if the Magic balk at the price. They could since they just added Mo Bamba to the front court. The restricted FA front could be fun to watch after the initial wave of FA.

@wojespn Potential offer sheet target for Indiana Pacers' anticipated $20M-plus in salary cap space, league sources tell ESPN: Orlando Magic restricted free agent forward Aaron Gordon.

Ew, no thanks. Aaron Gordon is not what the Pacers need.

OPTION DAY!

LeBron opted out but Enes Kanter opted in.

Both expected moves. Though Lebron opting out, pretty much takes Houston off the table as a destination.

I am starting to get the feeling there won't big fireworks this year with a lot of teams pushing off the major decisions until 2019.

A lot depends on PG13's OKC/LA decision. I do think LA should be the favorite entering the weekend for him still. Too much smoke for the past 18 months to overcome the recent stay in OKC rumors of the past two weeks for me to change my opinion.

Depending on what kind of contract it is for Cousins that's a fairly big gamble. It's not a great track record for guys coming back from the type of injury he had. Maybe a one plus one prove it deal would be good, but I'd be really nervous about handing out a long term max contract without knowing how close he'll ever get to being the player he was.

It was rumored that Jeanie Buss was very upset that the Lakers didn't get Boogie when he was traded to New Orleans and it was the final straw that lead to the firing the GM. Big risk but big reward.
It would be fun to see Lebron PG3 and Boogie team up with Ball and Ingram in LA.

Yeah, but Boogie pre-injury and Boogie post-injury could be two very different players. I don't hate it if they're getting him on a short term prove it deal. Otherwise I don't see the need to roll the dice. I will admit that the one thing I do like about it is that in that scenario they manage to hang on to Ingram. He's only flashed here and there so far but as he gets older and adds bulk to his frame he's going to be a hell of a player. If I had to guess he's the sticking point between LA and the Spurs in their Kawhi talks.

Totally agree. If I were the Lakers I think I'd rather go the PG13 and Lebron with Ball/Ingram/Kuzma plan rather than give up the rumored Ingram/Kuzma and multiple firsts to get Kawhi to pair with Lebron route. If PG13 and Lebron decide to stay with their teams they can still go that route next year or just add Kawhi and keep Ingram/Kuzma plus the first. I know that involves patience and risk but it sets the team to win for a long time.
Especially because if you don't get George, James, and Lenard they aren't beating the the Warriors this year anyway.

Cousins is just the third wild card you sign after all the other parts are set. He shouldn't be the target with his injury. Hurts to type because I really enjoy watching healthy Boogie hoop.

Kawhi Leonard

I think I have seen you spell it the other way a few times now. Always love your posts. :)
