NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

I hope Boston holds the line. I like their team/future. Keep it together, do not mortgage it for Kawhi, wait for the Warriors to slowly drift apart, then replace them.

Pacer could be interesting, if the Magic balk at the price. They could since they just added Mo Bamba to the front court. The restricted FA front could be fun to watch after the initial wave of FA.

@wojespn Potential offer sheet target for Indiana Pacers' anticipated $20M-plus in salary cap space, league sources tell ESPN: Orlando Magic restricted free agent forward Aaron Gordon.

I wish the NFL would let teams trade draft capital for cap space like the NBA does.

Agreed. Unless Kawhi committed long term I wouldn't move any assets for him. And even if he did commit long term I would keep Brown and Tatum off the table. The Celtics are built to win now and in the future. No really compelling reason to mess with that.

Yeah, maybe. I think for it to work out Thaddeus Young would have to opt out of his deal, and I'm not confident he will. I've also heard Tyreke Evans and Will Barton as FA targets for Indy.

The Magic are in a weird spot with Grodon. On the one hand, if they don't match any offer for him then they have essentially nothing to show after five plus years of rebuilding. On the other hand, I don't know where he fits alongside Bamba and Isaac. They've already tried him at small forward once and it was a disaster.

There is potential for a fun transaction weekend.

@KCJHoop One team consistently mentioned as strongly considering a run at Zach LaVine in restricted free agency: The Kings.

For those of you agreeing with me on Boston staying pat --

Thank you!

I wanted to note, though, if I were them, my next big move is for Anthony Davis.

He wants out of New Orleans. His availability would time out well with you needing a replacement for Al Horford. It seems the perfect fit to me.

Davis, Tatum, and Brown together for their peaks... Yikes.

I'm a bulls fan and don't love lavine. Wouldn't be mad

The issue is that Sacramento is the type of team who will overpay to get FA and the Bull may match to not lose the asset they traded Butler for... So you may be mad in the end.

Reinsdorf is pretty cheap I hope that wins out

Throwing good money after bad. You just know the Kings will throw an outrageous sum at him. Neither outcome is great for the Bulls, but I'd rather walk away with nothing for the Butler deal than to pay him more than 20 mil per year for the next however many years. That's a massive gamble. Let the Kings roll the dice.
