NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

I like what Phoenix did in getting Bridges. I think you can have a lineup of:

Payton
Booker
Bridges/Warren
Jackson
Ayton

I'm disappointed in the lack of trades last night.
This. I want some chaos like last year's Jimmy Butler trade, Paul George and even Kyrie even though that was later in the summer. I'm sure the June 29th player option deadline will start the snow ball and we'll have an avalanche by July 1.

Also like what the Sixers did. They got a player they wanted and an unprotected first round pick in 2021. Like what the Bulls did as well.

Some notable undrafted players: Trevon Duval, Brandon McCoy, Billy Preston, Alonzo Trier, Rawlk Alkins, Keenan Evans

Yeah. Think it's a sign of things to come for free agency? Maybe there won't be as much movement as we had thought.

Is it just LeBron really? Teams might want to see where he goes before deciding on a direction, if you're a fringe Eastern Conference contender and LeBron heads West, maybe you make some more win now type moves. If you're a fringe Western contender, Denver or someone like that, and LeBron lands in the West, maybe you adjust your timeline a few years down the road.

Some young, tradeable assets there too. The record this year might not show it but the Suns are heading in the right direction.

I think the Mikal Bridges trade is going to look terrible for Phoenix in two years. I think the Sixers fleeced them.

Even if Zhaire Smith doesn’t work out, they still have that 2021 Miami pick, and Mikal Bridges has some bust potential. This is a guy that played with three other Top 35 picks, while Zhaire played as the 4 man for lowly Texas Tech.

The 2021 pick to be very valuable with the likely possibility that is the first year the NBA ends the one and done rule. Adding the High Schoolers will make the draft deep with talent. The sixers can use it themselves or in a blockbuster trade (Kawahi?). Very good deal for phili.

I was listening briefly to Cowherd after the draft. Amazing how hard it is to really break into the NBA. I think he was saying there was only a 7% chance of drafting an eventual All-Star. I think bumping that to the first round only and it rose to 20%. Even with lottery picks over 50% of the Top 14 turn out to be busts. The guys are drafted young and the great players play for a long time, much longer than say the NFL. Amazingly difficult.

The head-case from T$M over sleeps and misses his first Celtic conference call. Incredible.

LOL the call was at 11am

The Celtics were scheduled to have an 11 am conference call with first-round pick Robert Williams but have not been able to get in contact with him and have postponed the call.

In a different segment he was referring to how hard it is to draft and why the Cavs should have traded their pick before it had a name on it.

The number eight pick hasn't yielded an All-Star since 1993. LeBron needs All-Stars to beat the Warriors. 80% of the last 15 number eight picks have been busts.
