They convey through with one way traffic in the two narrow sections at each end, then wait at each end or in the Great Bitter Lake. I went on a Suez canal deep dive a few months ago. I think more and more about quitting my job and sailing around the world, so these are the types of things I google at 2am on a school night.

If I were in the eastern half of the country, I'd love to do the Great Loop. From the PNW, lots of folks either take the Inside Passage up to Alaska in the summer or sail down to Baja in the winter.
