I kind of wished we had a small volleyball/wrestling arena.
Kansas not being the laughing stock of cfb would be a good thing for the conference
I would be fine with them winning their non-con gimmes and going 0-fer in conference - well except for their upsets of Tejas.
I think Leipold will get them to at least not being a disaster. In a couple years maybe get to 6 wins or so.
I am not as hopeful. They have had coaches that weren't terrible and they didn't give any of them enough time. It takes time to climb out of the Grand Canyon. Since Mangino their coaches have had an average tenure of less than 3 years with only Beaty getting a fourth year.
It is hard for a predominantly basketball school to be good at football.
Duke had a little run under the ole ball coach, then David later, but they always regress to their mean. So many factors work against football - donor intentions, facilities, fan interests, tradition, on and on.
Lance seems like a good dude, founded in fundamentals though. And he has brought some talent through the portal this year.
Yeah, but KU would have to improve a ton to match the recent performance of other hoops schools. Duke, UNC, Kentucky have all had way better football programs over the last decade. Throw in Indiana and UCLA as well if we are still giving them status as hoops blue bloods. KU isn't even keeping up with the already low standards of their peer group.
It works the other way as well. Penn State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Alabama, aTm, USC - football schools mostly struggle to win a league championship in hoops. It happens occasionally, but the exception seems to prove the rule, we don't look to them.
The school holds two retroactively awarded national championships in basketball from the Helms Foundation: for the 1927 (19–1 overall record) and 1936 (22–2–1 overall record) seasons.
I'm not going to argue back and forth if you don't think Notre Dame has a solid basketball program. 37 NCAA bids show me enough.
Bob, you can be a football school and still have a solid basketball program. Notre Dame has a solid basketball program.
Exactly, you'd be silly not to admit that Notre Dame's basketball program is >>>>>> than KU's football program.
Point debated is whether a school can be historically elite in both sports. History suggests not.
