Should we be worried

Many “experts” have ISU as being a Final Four team, beating all other teams in the MidWest Regional. Is that going to be a jinx, I know they are good enough, but I remember the screw job against MSU and Big George’s injury. Hey CW, you need to merch ISU nut cups!

To counter that, now ISU is a popular pick to be upset as a 2.

This is not to say that we aren't deserving, but there's a lot of recency bias on these "experts" picks. They remember how we played in KC, and they remember things like Michigan looking shakey all tournament, etc.

Purdue seems to be a trendy pick right now as well. But in March they barely beat Northwestern and gave up 97 points to Wisconsin.

You have to win the game in front of you regardless of the opponent. What people have us picked at I could care less about as if you don't win each game from here on out it's meaningless.

Been a fan long enough I have seen the highs and lows that I'm almost numb anymore when we stumble because it's happened enough times. I was a student during that Elite 8 run and was watching it a an ISU Aluni Club gamewatch in KC before the ISU Women were to play in the Sweet 16 that night. We were basically 3 minutes away from making the Final 4 that year and that room was electric until the BS double foul that set the wheels in motion for disappointment. Not even going to mention what happened the following year... 2015 and 2019 are 2 years I could go without relieving our exit as well.

Up until our struggles in February I had been saying this is the best team we've had since the Elite 8 run with Fizer and Tinsley. We showed we can be that team in KC too and I hope that is the team we see from here on out. I'll just enjoy the ride but have the nut cup on standby as well.

This but also outside of Michigan the path ahead for ISU is extremely easy with some very good matchups for ISU. The team isn’t just good, it has the best path forward of any of the 2 seeds.

I frankly don't care what the experts have to say. However, it is nice to get publicity, especially good publicity

As for the tournament, I'm just going to enjoy the ride. 67 teams will end the tournament with a loss. So odds are highly likely ISU will also end with a loss. But until that happens, I will be cheering them on, appreciating each last moment we have with Jefferson, Heise, and Lipsey.

The entire season has been leading up to this tournament. Just sit back and enjoy it

If you're approaching the tournament with a "Final 4 or bust" attitude, then yes, you should be worried. There is a difference between "We're good enough to make the final 4", and "We should make the final 4".

Historical likelihood of making the Final 4 by seed:

1 - 41.3%
2- 20%
3-10.6%
4-9.4%
5-5.6%

The odds of a 2 seed making the Elite 8 are only 45%. Sweet 16 -63.8%.

It's really hard to make the Final 4.

We need to manifest the success for this team, I got into manifestation about two months ago. I know it sounds weird, honkey, spacey but it’s all about changing thinking, believing, and what you deserve. Ok. I’m done:). But I’m going to manifest as much as one person can.

I think bottom line is the guys have to play like they are the HUNTER and destroy anyone in their way. As a coach I always waited until thee d of a season to feel good about what was accomplished. As a player you should never be satisfied until you won’t play anymore. Maybe that’s harsh, but stay hungry and never be good enough.

Exactly my thoughts. When we come out of the gate slow and get down double digits we spend a lot of energy trying to chip away at the hole we dug ourselves and a lot of times it doesn't end well. We also have this tendency to let of the gas a bit when we are up double digits at times and then have to bite our nails that it doesn't become a FT contest late in the game. When we are playing at our best we hit them from the start and make the other team be the one that plays rattled down double digits. Our defense can frustrate teams more than anyone in the country but it's not as effective when we are the ones playing from behind for long stretches of the game as we start to press on offense and have stupid turnovers of our own.

Just feels like there are times we play down to the level of our competition while we usually are much more focused and sharper when we are playing a high level team. Hopefully this team has learned from those mistakes and have the same focus and intensity from here on out regardless of the name on the front of the other team's jersey.
