Should Paul Rhoads be fired?

Might as well give the next coach the rest of the season to get things up to speed.

I think the only reason to keep him around at this point is if we can't afford to get rid of him. Can we afford to get rid of him?

I'd love to track down his extension from after the 2011 season and see what the buyout would be right now. He's signed through the 2021 season right now, I believe.

Paul is a nice guy? Of course he is!

So are 150 million other men in this country. Doesnt mean they should all be coaching a Power 5 school into the ground

1. Its proven now he isnt a good HC
2. How many more years of patience does the fanbase need to have?
3. He needs to go. The sooner the better.

1) 99% of the people here would have lynched you for suggesting that after his first couple of years.
2) At ISU? I think the patience of Job would suffice for football. What is your realistic expectation for the football team's average record? Because it bears mentioning that every other fanbase in our conference likely has the same or higher expectations (minus MAYBE KU) so at the end of the year there are always going to be some ticked off fan bases. If you weren't a big fan of Rhoads in years 1 and 2 then I can see your frustration, but otherwise it's pretty hypocritical in my opinion to break out the pitchforks now if you were one upset that he wouldn't say he was going to retire here when asked.
3) That's your opinion. If it happens I hope we get a good replacement and will support whoever the coach is if they are a good coach and a good representative of ISU.

I did. He's a good coach and a good man who has had some horrible luck and made some decisions he probably wishes he had back. I think he can turn it around with patience from the fan base (a big if) and I seriously doubt that we can find better for football. It's an indictment of sports society and not on Rhoads that everybody has turned on him after just as many were up in arms because he wouldn't say a few short years ago that he was going to retire here because he said that he likely wouldn't control that (which may turn out to be prophetic).

He is a good man and I wish he could turn it around. Sadly, I don't think he can.

This program needs a total change in philosophy. The spread was fun and all, but we are suffering from A) not having the athletes to run it, and B) coaches more-or-less catching on to how to stop it.

CPR is a good guy, he's had some tough luck, but this just can't continue.

Agree on good man. But we already gave one coach this generation a chance like this and that was after a total bottoming out of the program. Turned out OK but Rhoads has led the program from bowls to the cellar. Now our facilities are up to date and our fan support is through the roof. It's not 1995 anymore and he caused this - not Jim Walden. No more patience needed - he should be fired immediately and Mangino is interim until end of the season.

1. After years 2 and 3, it looked like he could have been good. Its year 7, he isnt getting any better.
2.My expectations are for every 10 years we have 6 years of 6 wins, then 2 with more, and 2 with less. That isnt too difficult to do.
3. It isnt just my opinion.

94% of Cyclone Nation believes that Paul Rhoads will be fired by the end of the year at least.

Jamie Pollard will not listen.

I seriously doubt Jamie will fire Rhoads during the season, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rhoads were shown the door in early December with another 2-10 or 3-9 finish.

I might have thought that he would cut Rhoads loose early and give Mangino the interim role as a test drive, but the offense is the worst part of this team and Mangino hasn't shown he's worth a damn as OC anyway.

I don't give a **** if he's a good guy. He's job is to win. He clearly can't do it. 6-21 last 3 years.....

He should resign with a very generous re-negotiated severence. He will be happy no doubt.
