I haven't had a Facebook for three years, but as a recent college grad I'm starting to think it may be a useful networking tool. How do you in the working world feel about Facebook?

Facebook is not really a networking tool. Twitter maybe. But Facebook means someone has to friend you (or vice versa) and then you see them post about how proud they are about their kids, their workouts, etc.

Facebook is for posting incriminating pictures of drunken nights that get you fired from work.

Linkedin>∞>Facebook for networking

Depends what kind of networking your looking for. Linkedin is awesome for professional networking, but not so much if you just want to keep up with friends from highschool, college, etc.

Facebook is the devil!

I can agree with this. It's easy to kill a lot of time on FB, especially if you have a smart phone. It was great for killing time in class though, and now that I have graduated it is really useful for keeping up with people.

I agree. I use Linkedin to network with others in my field. Facebook is just for family and friends.

Am I the only one that hates LinkedIn? Just a circle jerk of over bloated resumes asking to verify each other that you are an expert at skills you barely know a thing about.

Oh you put a word over an image once in mspaint? Now you can add professional graphic designer who has mastered Photoshop, illustrator, and the likes to your profile.

I somewhat agree with you. Linkedin is full of blowhards puffing there chests out looking for validation.

Yeah, LinkedIn seems to be getting stupid a lot more quickly than FB ever did. At least for me. If I was looking for a different job, it would be great, though. I pretty much just try to stay friendly with the recruiters on there in case that happens.

Now I somewhat regret deleting that post. Mainly because I realize its an evil necessity that I must update as any employer will check it out. Ugh, gotta go pretend I care about networking 24/7. I think my position on there was 3 jobs ago. To me I feel like people who update it all the time are openly looking for new jobs. I like my job and my employer so I don't find much use.
