He went WHERE A COP TOLD HIM TO GO! Additionally, he proceeded very very slowly if you watch the video. To be treated the way he was is asinine.

I think there was an overreaction, but take this analogy.

If I come on an accident that has closed 1 lane of the highway and a police officer directs me to go around it, I can go around it. If another officer steps out an tells me to stop, can I just ignore that 2nd officer because I was just going WHERE A COP TOLD ME TO GO? Of course not. Circumstances change.

I wonder if Scheffler will sue the ESPN reporter then. The ESPN reporter said he kept driving for 10 yards or so after the officer attached himself to the car. If the video that is out there is the entire incident, then that ESPN reporter was lying and could probably be sued.

lol. Everyone is really big on Scheffler, with a great life and millions of dollars, getting himself tied up in a bunch of lawsuits.

He was once disciplined for driving his squad car drunk in a parking lot making donuts...you know, like in Superbad.

Yea, I honestly forgot about that scene in Superbad. Either way, not great. Probably should have been more than 5 day suspension.

I’ve said Scottie should have stopped, and Scottie admitted that. They could have given him that ass chewing and let him go and then it’s done.

The cops decided to take that “confession” (which wasn’t even really a confession other than he admitted he didn’t stop when told to, which we all knew) and turned it into 4 charges including a felony. All because the cop maybe had a boo boo on his knee (which the public hasn’t seen yet).

No doubt Louisville PD released this audio the same day they dropped the charges intentionally. They knew they couldn’t get a conviction, but releasing his confession was as much of a win as they could get.

Lol! OK, I think some are going a little too far in defense of Scottie here. In that situation, where you are driving around traffic off the road in the area of an accident with security and emergency personally all around, if someone yells stop you should definitely stop and find out why someone is saying that. He's not driving on a secluded road in a dangerous part of town at night. Let's use some common sense here. Not saying I think Scottie should gave been charged with anything and the cop definitely was in the wrong, but he should have stopped. Scottie even said he thought it was a security guard who didn't know he had been told by a cop to do go around and he was in a hurry to get to his tee time so he kept going.

...but he literally was driving in an unfamiliar area, when it was dark. After already being told to proceed. That's the root cause here -- one cop doing the exact opposite of what another told him to do. Cops also supercede a gate security person, I even understand that line of thinking.

Still, police saying "when someone tells you to stop, you stop!" is utterly-horrific advice to give people.

Does that still apply to celebrities/athletes who probably get hounded by randos basically all the time? He directly stated he couldn't tell it was a cop yelling at him. That may be his fault overall, but it's understandable given the circumstances of him already being told what to do, and just trying to move...what, a block in total at this point? Not even a block?

It doesn't help that the video shows the cop coming from the side/behind the car, too. It's not like he jumped out in front of him and flashed a badge. It was someone yelling at him outside of his periphery.

What could the Cop have done better? He is supposed to be a paid professional. This cop was anything but professional.

I agree. I have said multiple times the cop who went after him was the primary problem here. I was just saying that in that situation where there is an accident with lots of emergency responders and security around if you hear someone yell stop you should probably stop and see what's going on. Somehow thats wrong though. If one cop tells you once you can do something then you should plow through the rest of the way to your destination regardless of whatever anyone else tells you in that situation.

He didn’t “plow through”. He drove very slowly around. A cop previously told him to proceed. So he was following police orders…….before another cop decided he wanted him to follow “his” orders…….which disagreed with the first cop’s orders. Which is when the second cop overreacted in that chaotic situation. Bottom line, after looking at this cop’s record, he should be fired

Scottie said he thought it was security, so yeah it applies in that situation too.

He didn't stop by his own admission even after hearing someone yelling at him to stop. If you want to say the cop should be fired fine. He should definitely not have tried to reach in and practically assault Scottie. I would have stopped in that situation if I had heard someone say it out of an abundance of caution to see what's going on and I think Scottie should have too. That's my opinion.
