Wow that place is still around? I remember my parents taking stuff to be fixed back in the 80s.

Traviss is shutting down on December 31 2025. It's shocking to me that they lasted this long, but I'm guessing super high end A/V installs kept them going a long time even though replacing tv's is now cheaper than repairing them.

Was the new board still under warranty?

I don't know what is going bad in your power board, but 10 years back or so, they frequently went bad due to leaking aluminum capacitors. A part worth a whopping 87 cents. They look like a tiny beer can. Bad ones will often bulge on the top like a frozen beer can, and may ooze a yellowish paste. Mine was oozing stuff out by one of the legs (right leg in pic)

I was able to repair my TV by de-soldering the bad capacitor and replacing with a new, high quality one. That was an LG and it is still kicking 9 years later. Not a horrible repair if you can find a youtube video on how to disassemble your TV. There is some high voltage DC to be aware of that might be lingering in the old capacitor

Yeah- not sure- guy that fixed the tv is looking into if there is any warranty on part. I’m just done with this tv and want to move on.

I guess another thing that was happening ever since I got it back is that sometimes when you turn the tv on the screen is pretty much black and from certain angles you can see images on the screen very faintly- give it 5-10 minutes and the screen would act normally- brighten to its normal brightness that it should be.

Looking like I’m gonna try an LG.

Samsung has been very highly ranked the past couple of years, but I prefer the LG or Sony's myself. We have a 65 OLED LG and a 77 OLED LG. the smaller one has a crap load of hours on it and still has a great picture. Now is a great time to purchase as the newer models are coming out and you can get last years models at a great price.
