RTT...20-20 hindsight.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share the following. My wife and I don’t do anything special for Valentine’s Day, so what happened was purely coincidental and not related to that. My wife decided we should get away for the weekend, so she bought ISU tickets and gathered our daughter, son-in-law, and neighbor to help with chores while we were gone. She surprised me with this on Thursday night.

We headed to Ames early Saturday morning, where we caught the Kansas game. After that, we did some shopping in Des Moines and spent the night there. We returned to Hilton on Sunday. Following that victory, we traveled west to visit my wife’s aunt and spent the night there. We made it back to Hilton in time to enjoy the celebration last night!

We just got home, and this will be one of our big vacation getaways for a while. I think I should get away more often; with the help around, some tasks were completed that I hadn’t gotten to. I now have some time to move some equipment and tweak the planter for beans this afternoon in this nice weather!

If I had known about this trip earlier, I would have prepared our camper since the weather was so nice, but overall, it was a great weekend. Life is good!:)
What a great weekend to spend here - time for your wife to buy lottery tickets!!

This is outside Jasper, IN. I have been to Jasper several times, but can't say I have ever noticed that sign. I have no idea what the actual limit is based on that.

This was posted by a friend who lives in Jasper. I think I was just taken by the AI bot. The speed limit is 55 but many people only drive 45 through there. I think someone doctored the image to reflect that.

Why do some people who are turning right on green think that people across turning left have the right of way?
The bigger question is why do some people turning left on the flashing yellow arrow think they have the right of way over people turning right on green? I like the flashing yellow arrow because it saves a lot of people idling for a long time at red turn arrows when there is no traffic, but some people lose their goddamned minds when they see a flashing yellow arrow.

When it comes to the winter Olympics, curling is the best watch which is strange as you would think it would be the least watchableI
Hot take: I find curling and figure skating unwatchable.

Curling = Competitive sweeping.

Figure Skating: Dancing on ice with sharp blades. I long ago decided I have absolutely no interest in dancing. Not only because I can't do it. I do appreciate the fitness and conditioning required to DO it. And the practice it takes to be good at it. I just get nothing out of watching it. Figure skating gives me the same vibe as dancing (as in Dancing w/the Stars). That, and the judging seems pretty subjective. It also may just be a guy thing.

It's hard to believe but there are actually still some dirt roads in Omaha. I was stuck in a traffic jam about an hour into the snow. I took a quick look at the map and saw I could exit and take some back roads. I got on this one road and it sure felt like it wasn't paved.
Checked Street view today and yep, dirt road right off of 72nd street in between Maple and Military

So, I never heard we were looking at snow last night. When I mentioned that to Lew this morning, he said that he had heard there would be a chance of snow.

Welp - we've got four inches of chance out there, and he'll be out there for a couple of hours now pushing it off the lane.

So, Lew just came in to change a plate on the 3D printer, and I asked if he was done. He said "Nope. I misunderestimated. It's not four, it's more like eight to ten inches out there."

He has our driveway done, and one pass down the lane. Long way to go yet. He usually does everyone's drive and 5-6 passes on the lane. I'll see him back in around noon...

Did you go on top of the mountain? It’s an eerie feeling
Lol no, we just dumped our dump trailer. But the wind blows so much around so there's just trash everywhere. I didn't see any today but you'd be surprised at the amount of "toys" there are at the dump.
