I’ve noticed when I’m at home and need to do my business, I call it the bathroom. Any other place it’s the restroom (even if they have a shower in them).

If I win the lottery, one of the things I'd do is have a private bar where my friends and family could drink for free that way it would never be busy.

Flannel Fest is this weekend, it's a craft beer festival featuring home brewers. $60 and you get a little cup you carry around your neck and you can drink beer all day. I went last year and my buddy really wants me to go again since he's big into it but I really don't want to, if it was cheaper I'd go for sure, but we'll see.

Funny enough there was a year there a couple years back where I was on an Interpol “suspicious activity” list and got to speak with the German Federal Police every time I landed there. They’d meet me on the jet bridge and we’d go have a chat. It was the same two guys almost every time lol. Netherlands authorities also cared, but at least waited outside the jet bridge. Switzerland seemed to not care and I rerouted myself through Zurich a lot more during that time
Apparently don’t go straight from Albania to Miami to Colombia to Miami to Albania in one continuous trip or you’re gonna end up on a list. Was working in Albania and had a wedding to go to in Colombia and I stopped in Miami for a couple days just to chill and relax. Didn’t think anything of it.
But for last year, my customers are all scattered throughout the country and most of the people I worked with, work from home. No sense in sending everyone to an office.
I also had a health scare in summer 2024 and I cracked down pretty hard on work/life balance and have turned down some crazy travel opportunities (for the sake of my mental and physical health).
And I’m in Chicago now, have been since 2022.

I just had a long talk with my manager at the time being like “you’re literally killing me, something needs to change” and now I’m 11 years into the company and my reputation doesn’t need to be “proven” anymore so it’s crazy I’ve been doing higher impact work while working way less. Funny how that goes.
I’m also down 170 pounds. Over half my weight. Feel like a million bucks.

Not sheltered (not that I leave the resort area much) , I am 1500 miles from the "epicenter" and that really only lasted 24 hours. Did see lots of Mexican marines in pickups patrolling the hwy between Playa del Carmen and Cancun on Saturday but the biggest thing going on here involves rogue taxi drivers defying the authorities and not registering or paying taxes. Police are seizing their vehicles.
State Department advice to "shelter' where I am at was a combination of international politics and overcaution. Nothing was happening here at all.
