RTT...20-20 hindsight.

I’m ready for credit cards to get rid of the rewards stuff they do. Now every place you go, you get whacked with a 4% charge if you use a credit card. So to gain that 1-2% reward you gotta spend 4% more. Not much of a deal. It used to be that businesses were content to eat the 1-2% service fee because they didn’t have to worry about bounced checks.

Or the other option, just increase your price 4% and forget the fee. Same deal but at least the customer doesn’t have to look at the fee.
I've noticed that as well.

A lot of places have found that it is a way to advertise lower prices. A gas station can post their cash price with a tiny caveat that it is the cash price on their giant sign so it looks like they have lower prices than their competitors just to get travelers on their lot buying their product. Most travelers will then just pay the few more cents a gallon rather than getting back in their car and going to the other station. Many places also have their upcharge for credit card payment as a little blurb in a tiny font at the bottom of their menu so it looks like lower prices than you are actually paying. But when they are looking over your shoulder as you are selecting the precalculated tip on the screen the percentages are sometimes calculated on the credit card price rather than the cash price. Some are even calculated on the subtotal including tax.
NOLA trip reinforced how cheap living in Iowa is. A $5-7 breakfast sandwich was $14 there. 99 cent bottle of water was 3.50

Tell me about it. The $3 and change gas was over $4 out west and we never even went west of the Rockies. I was excited to be paying $4.44 for gas at one stop after the previous fill up was $4.94.

Yeah, just another wrinkle on modern life. I carry cash for those places. Usually restaurants. I was already trying to make sure the tips I gave were cash, so paying it all in cash is not much a problem.

For other places, yeah, I'll use the card.

I hope the card companies take a hit even if just a bit from this extra greed - by more people using cash.

Weird running into people's profiles that you know. Have seen a couple from 2 girls my sister played basketball with in college. And then a couple others that are local caught my eye. Probably won't wait for them to send a like back, I'll just reach out since their actual facebook profiles came up since they have a few mutual friends. Most want you to reach out first anyway.

Now people can stop pretending that they care about soccer
People like my sister and her hubby who had a watch party and have probably never even watched a kiddy soccer game (like me - the only soccer I've ever watched was when my boys were 5 & 6 and joined a "pop warner" soccer team with the town P&R}.

Last Sunday morning was at RR crossing on Duff Ave. Train was stopped about 50 yards from the crossing. It started to head east slowly with only three cars. I then saw EMT and Police down by the Burnett Ave crossing.

I should have gone home when the crossing arms went up, but curiosity got the best of me. I drove through the parking lot behind Main Street and sure enough, there was a body laying on the tracks. EMT and police all standing around. It was obvious the person was deceased. I just brought back memories of my dad after finding him when he decided to end his life. Even though it was 40 years ago, it still haunts me to this day.

Texting with friends and one of them drops that she has a friend in mind to introduce me to. I ask if she is hot and if she is free Saturday afternoon when I go to their house. She says I need to wait a few months. Jerks.
