We had signed up for the ticket lottery for that without knowing the date. When they finally sent us the email I realized that it was over the fourth of July weekend. We had family here, so...never mind.Went to the Bananas game in Kinnick last night. The event itself was amazing. However, I haven’t been to that stadium since a cyhawk game in the Bret Meyer era. That stadium and parking is still a cluster **** epic proportions and one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I tried to prep people beforehand how bad it is and they downplayed it. It was even worse than I remembered it.
Yes. And yes you would. Strong recommend. We had signed up for the ticket lottery for that without knowing the date. When they finally sent us the email I realized that it was over the fourth of July weekend. We had family here, so...never mind.
Was it a fun show? Was it mostly for the kids, or would a couple of seniors like us have enjoyed it as well?
I actually didn’t think the music was as loud on the west side as I was prepared for from reading online. I thought it would be louder, not that it was quiet. It must of been how it was dispersed in there. We were at last nights game as well. Maybe it was our seat location in the lower north end zone but I got a headache from the loud music. Game wise it was fun. Parking especially leaving was ridiculous, way worse than Ames. An hour and a half from a lot just north of the stadium to interstate 80.
My 40 yo cousin is dealing with a similar situation. 7+ years of marriage, 4 kids, wife was spotted around with other guys. Pretty sure they filed last year, but I actually haven't heard any updates in a while. Recent Facebook posts show them together with the kids but that just might be for the sake of the kids I don't know.Fighting depression setting in today. I get forced out of the house for our new parenting arrangement but overnight, our anniversary is technically on Tuesday. I just ******* hate all of this.
How many "Go Hawks" did you hear before getting to your car?I actually didn’t think the music was as loud on the west side as I was prepared for from reading online. I thought it would be louder, not that it was quiet. It must of been how it was dispersed in there.
Parking literally could not of been worse. No one directing traffic. No sense to any of it. Just a mess. And leaving walking there’s multiple bottlenecks that people got stuck in then morons stopped IN the bottleneck to watch the fireworks. The seats in there are beyond crammed and uncomfortable and the Concourse itself basically a can of sardines on meth.
Wait, what? I thought you were in N'awlins?Just got home. Got about an hour of sleep on the plane from Vegas to DSM otherwise no sleep since yesterday morning.
I was, but apparently to get to DSM from NOLA you gotta go through Vegas.Wait, what? I thought you were in N'awlins?
But did you have fun? That’s important.Just got home. Got about an hour of sleep on the plane from Vegas to DSM otherwise no sleep since yesterday morning.
All but the last night was good. We made the NOLA.com news as we were unable to go into our hotel and had to sit outside for 4 hours or more before they let us in to get our stuff at least. But did you have fun? That’s important.
Almost none. I didn’t have any ISU gear on. ONLY because it was the 4th so went with ‘Merica clothing. I got some looks with my cyclone plates though. How many "Go Hawks" did you hear before getting to your car?
Even though they had nothing to do with the event itself.
I like to wear my Cy carrying a 'Merica flag shirt so I'm repping both.Almost none. I didn’t have any ISU gear on. ONLY because it was the 4th so went with ‘Merica clothing. I got some looks with my cyclone plates though.
There was a lot of Hawk undertones to the show but I expected that and it wasn’t that bad. It was still about baseball.
A lot of places have found that it is a way to advertise lower prices. A gas station can post their cash price with a tiny caveat that it is the cash price on their giant sign so it looks like they have lower prices than their competitors just to get travelers on their lot buying their product. Most travelers will then just pay the few more cents a gallon rather than getting back in their car and going to the other station. Many places also have their upcharge for credit card payment as a little blurb in a tiny font at the bottom of their menu so it looks like lower prices than you are actually paying. But when they are looking over your shoulder as you are selecting the precalculated tip on the screen the percentages are sometimes calculated on the credit card price rather than the cash price. Some are even calculated on the subtotal including tax.I’m ready for credit cards to get rid of the rewards stuff they do. Now every place you go, you get whacked with a 4% charge if you use a credit card. So to gain that 1-2% reward you gotta spend 4% more. Not much of a deal. It used to be that businesses were content to eat the 1-2% service fee because they didn’t have to worry about bounced checks.
Or the other option, just increase your price 4% and forget the fee. Same deal but at least the customer doesn’t have to look at the fee.
