With so many guys in the portal and more being added every day, I just absolutely don't get this move. Jaz has all the underlying analytics saying he can be a contributor at the P6 level and really came on strong late so while he may not be the flashiest name, there's reason to believe he can be a part of a winning team. But unless this like directly gets us one of his high school teammates, I can't say I get taking a player like this so quickly when there are so many moving parts this spring specifically.
I think that's 100% fair. I personally think / hope there is more to this as in TJ knows by signing Jones, someone else comes with.. If this guy ends up being a quality bench piece or good practice guy, that's fine in my mind because we haven't really had a lot of post players of that role.

If he ends up being a hustle guy who can soak up some minutes, I'd be fine with that too.

After Hogue ended up being really good, I'll never judge a recruit I haven't seen play. No clue if this guy will be any good, but TJ has a pretty good track record of being in on guys that everyone else is missing.

Minnesota and Va Tech were after this guy too so that's a good sign that this isn't some bum that no one wants.

1. Check the recruits at his high school in the upcoming classes.
2. He's apparently a good student and our APR isn't in good shape.
I looked at the roster of his HS and didn’t recognize any recruits, who are you referring to?

Made an account just to add to this discussion- Jones had a 24% defensive rebounding percentage this year. For context, ISU hasn't had a guy post a percentage that high since Ejim in '13. While it's a really small sample size (14 games), the staff may see a guy who can give spot minutes and alleviate the defensive rebounding concerns of last year.

This percentage will likely drop against better talent but half of rebounding comes down to effort and BBIQ.
Welcome!

Competition is good. Welcome to the team. Bust your butt and get some playing time. Seems like other schools have had success with little know transfer bigs coming from small schools and making an impact. Why not us. I would be glad to have a 6’10” solid defender who rebounds at a high rate.

In Otz I trust!

Also, I’m guessing Green had a big hand in this one

Well we need a guy not afraid to board and hustle at 6’10. I’d say Foster and Conditt for various reasons aren’t sure things

Actually have some height on the team.

I'm not smart enough to know if this is a good get, but I think the height thing is the most interesting. That's two big transfers signed. Seems like a lot.

Well TJ mentioned needs of physical presence in the front court. Jones and Jaz give us some size with hopefully their reported competitiveness/hard work. Heavens knows we need help on the boards.
