RIP OZZY

Bummer. He's roughly the same age as my dad. I recently heard that Kelly Osbourne spends time here in central Iowa as her now fiance, Sid Wilson of Slip Knot, has a home near Indianola.

It's been fun to watch Kelly's social media talk about her time in Iowa. You'll see her around Indianola sometimes-- just normal as can be.

Ozzy's an all-timer. Got his goodbye concert in and decided it was time to go.

I'm actually amazed he's made it this long. He's been in rough shape for a while.

Amazing how well his death was timed from Ozzy's goodbye show. Dude was electric on stage. Went from not understandable off stage to crystal clear on stage and hitting all the notes. His voice never left him.

Literally both ends of the spectrum with Connie Francis death last week and now Ozzy.

All eras of his music were actually pretty great. Nobody stays that consistent for that amount of time.

RIP. An absolute icon.

I was always a fan of the quintessential classic rock bands, The Stones, Zeppelin, The Who, etc. And I still love them, but I remember the first time I heard War Pigs so vividly. I was probably 17, and had picked up the Paranoid album on a whim at a used CD store. I started playing it in my car on the drive home. Just like most people, I was already familiar with the title track and Iron Man, but I kid you not, the instant the guitar plays its first note, I was hooked. One of the best opening tracks of an album in history.

Job well done, Mr. Osbourne. You leave as one of the all time greats.
